After the complete move (Spring 2003): • Downtown: 3 programs, 7 f/t instructors, 5 computer labs, 2 design labs, “Our Place” and Culinary labs plus 3 classrooms • North Campus: 8 programs, 13 f/t instructors, 7 computer labs & 6 classrooms • 6-7 instructors will be teaching at both campuses. Enrollment will triple. Early Childhood enrollment figure does not include over 100 students acquiring early childhood credentials each year. Dental Hygiene and Dental Assisting fully accredited for 7 years. Of the nine students who took the Dental Assisting National Board, 100% passed on the first try. Allied Health Department Major Initiatives 2002-03 • Increase faculty in ADN program to accommodate increased enrollment as students progress to second year. • Begin accreditation process for Medical Sonography. • Complete accreditation recommendations for RAD Tech program. • Maintain high pass rates on licensure exams for all programs. • Examine needs of Early Childhood Education program to meet new mandates of public schools for education of teacher assistants. Huskins program in Criminal Justice at Topsail, Hoggard and Laney High Schools. Night Esthetics program began in Fall, 2001. Criminal Justice instructors have been involved in panel discussions on terrorism and presented national paper on forensics. Public Service Department Major Initiatives 2002-03 Move to the North Campus. Begin the Film and Video Production program. Expand the Huskins program in Criminal Justice to the other high schools in our region of service. Continue work with UNCW to develop a means to allow Paralegal graduates to complete a 4 year degree. Develop a student recruitment plan for Paralegal and Manicuring. Marine Technology Department Enrollment Marine Technology - 97 Marine Technology Department Other Facts R/V MARTECH was at the 2001 National Hydrographic Conference demonstrating state of art geophysical survey instrumentation. Piedmont Environmental Center (High Point, NC) R/V MARTECH charter. Continued work on Blackbeard’s wreck with NC Underwater Archaeology Unit. Marine Technology Department Major Initiatives 2002-03 $1 million bond funded pier replacement for Marine Technology vessels begins this June. Develop “career track” within MT Hydrographic survey, fisheries, geophysical surveying. Planning continues on developing specifications for R/V Dan Moore replacement. Currently generating possible alternatives to meet expected $250K (45%) cut in vessel operations funding.
