
A Dynasty in China refers to a period of rule by
a family or clan.
Chinese history is not as neat as is often
described and it was rare for one dynasty to
change peacefully into the next. Dynasties were
often established before the overthrow of an
existing regime, or continued for a time after
they had been defeated. The last 2 Dynasties in
China were the Ming (1368–1644)and the
Qing(1644–1911) Dynasties.

Qing Dynasty, with its capital Beijing, was the
last ruling of Dynasty of China and ruled from
1644 to 1912. Although the Manchus were not
Han Chinese and were strongly resisted by the
greater population, especially in the south, they
had assimilated a great deal of Chinese culture
before conquering China Proper. Realizing that
to dominate the empire they would have to do
things the Chinese way, the Manchus retained
many institutions of Ming and earlier Chinese
derivation.
