Chapter Programs/Professional Development Director Chapter Mission: The fundamental mission of a Chapter is to create a rich membership experience consisting of, at a minimum, professional networking, mentoring, professional development and other social benefits through local activities, and by creating volunteering opportunities for members who wish to make a contribution of their time and skills in support this mission. Position Summary: To drive the growth, engagement and retention of members within the Chapter consistent with Association performance objectives through delivery of relevant, high-quality events and programs. Requirements: Must be an HRPA CHRP/CHRL/CHRE member in good standing. An understanding of, or experience in, event planning and budgeting is recommended. Plans, organizes and delivers local programming that benefits all members. Works closely with the TMS to understand the professional networking, professional development, mentoring and social needs of members and be committed to a process of continual improvement, based on HRPA metrics and member survey analysis. The Program Director may develop original programs for local consumption but will leverage HRPA learning programs, Adobe Connect webcast and Mentor City mentor program management applications. To be highly effective, this role can require up to 3-4 hours per week in peak times. Reports to: The Chapter Program/PD Director is elected by voting members, reports to the Chapter Board of Directors, the Chapter President and is accountable to all members of the Chapter. If there is no designated Director appointed, the Chapter president will carry out the responsibilities of this position. Responsibilities: Attends and participates in all scheduled Board meetings; Creates and directs a Program Committee and or sub-committees (more as required)… o Networking program sub-committee, o Employment Network Group sub-committee, o Social events sub-committee; Identifies, recruits, trains, supervises and recognizes committee volunteers; Working with TMS, carefully analyzes data from registrations, annual member survey and chapter member demographic and geographic population data; Commits to use of HRPA registration and event feedback platforms, Working with TMS, establishes engagement goals and metrics; Using that analysis, decides on event content, format, timing and location for event, replicating the event in multiple locations and times to encourage the great possible participation from members throughout the Chapter territory; Maximizes and existing “off-the-shelf” programs/products as provided by HRPA, such as HR Broadcasts, Webinars and Seminars for incorporation into design of Chapter PD events; As early as possible in the Fall, publishes a core event calendar for the membership year and add to it as time and opportunity permit; Ensures the Director of membership and Communications Chair are informed of events; Reviews results of event survey feedback re: chapter event content, timing, location and cost to ensure that the members feel they are receiving value for their membership; With TMS, reviews “best practice” from across the HRPA chapter networks; Requests information/approval from the Board when necessary to meet the needs of the Program Committee activities; Uses the Speaker’s Bureau to select relevant guest speakers to present at Chapter Events Chairs Program Committee meetings on an ongoing basis; Provides training as early as possible in the Chapter event years, supervise, evaluate and recognize Program Committee team members; Advocates on behalf of HRPA the value of attending the Annual HR Conference, both as paid and volunteer participation.
