C. Daily Lesson Description
Total Length of unit: 8 lessons
Lesson # 1 of 8 Title: Dribbling
1. Introductory activities:
-Teacher introduces basketball and provides history of basketball. Students participate in
cardiovascular circuit warm-up which includes various basketball skills
2. Learning focus activities:
-Teacher explains why dribbling is important and goes over cues for dribbling.
- Class then participates in push the court activity. Offensive player dribbles ball up the court trying to
prevent defender from stealing the ball.
3. Culminating activity:
- Class participates in Dribble Knockout activity.
4. Closure:
- Teacher goes over six cues for dribbling basketball
Lesson # 2 of 8 Title: Passing
1. Introductory activities:
- Teacher introduces passing and explains why it is necessary.
- Students participate in dynamic and static warm up that involve muscles used for passing
2. Learning focus activities:
-Teacher will explain cues for bounce, chest, and overhead pass
- Students will then participate in passing lines.
3. Culminating activity:
-Students will participate in All-Star Obstacle Course.
4. Closure:
-Teacher will go over types of passes and cues.
Lesson # 3 of 8 Title: Layup
1. Introductory activities:
- Teacher will introduce layup.
- Students participate in dynamic warm up.
2. Learning focus activities:
-Teacher will go over cues for layup
-Students will participate in layup lines.
3. Culminating activity:
-Students will participate in Full Court Knockout Activity.
4. Closure:
- Teacher will ask students questions on cues for layup.
Lesson # 4 of 8. Title: Shooting
1. Introductory activities:
- Teacher will introduce shooting and importance of it.
-Students will participate in dynamic and static warm up.

1. Introductory activities
-Teacher will introduce rebounding and importance of it.
-Students will participate in rebound cardiovascular warm-up.
2. Learning focus activities:
-Teacher will go over cues of rebounding.
-Students will practice rebounding cues with partner.
3. Culminating activity:
-Students will participate in Polyspot Rebound activity.
4. Closure:
-Teacher will ask students to name cues for rebounding
Lesson # 6 of 8. Title: Offense
1. Introductory activities:
-Teacher introduces offense and object of offensive strategies.
-Students participate in cardiovascular warm-up circuit.
2. Learning focus activities:
- Teacher explains motion offense and zone offense
-Teacher has students demonstrate offenses with dummy defense.
3. Culminating activity:
-Students continue to practice offenses but with real defense.
4. Closure:
-Teacher asks students what situations each offense is used.
Lesson # 7 of 8. Title: Defense
1. Introductory activities:
-Teacher introduces defense and goal of it.
-Students participate in cardiovascular warm-up circuit.
2. Learning focus activities:
-Teacher explains man to man, 2-3 zone, and 3-2 zone defenses.
-Teacher has students demonstrate defenses against dummy offenses.
3. Culminating activity:
-Students continue to practice defenses against offenses trying to score now.
4. Closure:
-Teacher has students draw defenses and goes over when they are used.
Lesson # 8 of 8. Title: Class Tournament
1. Introductory activities:
-Teacher introduces today class will play tournament which will review all skills covered.
2. Culminating activity:
-Students participate on five on five tournament.
