Sam Price BUS1200-001 Professor Flanary 2/21/10 Freshman Leadership Personality Assessment Many people have mentioned to me before how interesting it is to take a personality test. Others have even stated that it helped to direct them into the right work environment. While in my Business 1200 course at East Carolina I was informed that we would be required to take a personality assessment. I completed my assessment using Human Metrics which seemed like a quality site to use. After completion of all the tests, I was extremely shocked to see what my personality type was. Human Metrics revealed that my personality type was ESTJ, or also known as the Guardian. Under this category I tested to that of a supervisor because of some attributes that I have. The Qualitative Analysis Formula for my personality type is as follows: slightly expressed extravert slightly expressed sensing personality slightly expressed thinking personality moderately expressed judging personality A supervisor processes skills such as social and community minded attributes that can be portrayed as a leader to society. My personality type also includes the skills of evaluating employees, making schedules, and maintaining inventory control. Supervisors tend to judge and evaluate employees based on the policies of the cooperation they’re working for. As children supervisors are typically the smart kids in class that always make good grades and complete tasks on time. In their spare time, this personality type enjoys social gatherings such as club dances, weddings, and holiday parties. Also included in my assessment was a list of famous names that have the same personality type as I do. I found this very interesting because there were some rather well known names listed under this category. Some of the names included were George Washington, George W. Bush, and Vince Lombardi. This was real interesting to read because all three of these great people were all leaders in some form of society. While taking this assessment I further realized how critical it is to know what type of personality you have. By taking this assessment I feel I have a better grasp on what work environment provides a great fit for me. In all, this assessment has been helpful in providing me with the knowledge needed to guarantee that I’m in the right place as far as my education. It also pointed out some accomplishments that I’ve made in my life that directly reflect this personality type. For example, at nineteen years old I was promoted to store manager at Hibbett Sports in Smithfield, NC. While manager I was in charge of evaluating employees, making schedules, and maintaining inventory control. At nineteen years old I was the youngest store manager ever for Hibbett Sporting Goods. As I reflect on this assessment, it pointed out some attributes that I feel confident can help me in my future work environment.
