Mr. McComiskey’s World History Advanced Placement Summer 2014 Assignment Welcome to a challenging and rigorous course! You must be prepared to work harder than you’ve ever worked in your life. If you can commit to that, you will be successful in this class. Your goal is to obtain the knowledge and skills necessary to take and pass the World History Advanced Placement Exam. The first step is completing the summer assignment. Please complete the following steps toward accomplishing this summer assignment: 1. Obtain a copy of the Traditions and Encounters: A Global Perspective on the Past, Fifth Edition by Jerry F. Bentley and Herbert F. Ziegler from me. You will sign for this textbook and you will be responsible for it. 2. Read all of Part 1, which includes Chapters 1 – 6. The reading begins on page 2 and ends on page 127. Make sure you read all the captions and side articles such as Sources From the Past, within each chapter. 3. Answer all the Thinking About Traditions and Thinking About Encounters questions in each chapter. 4. Obtain the six chapter tests and six scantrons from me. 5. Complete each chapter test on a scantron using a Number 2 pencil. Be very careful with the scantrons so that they can be graded accurately. 6. Turn in all completed work by Friday of the first week of the new school year. 7. Do not procrastinate in getting this assignment done. Start it right away and don’t wait for the last minute. I can be reached at Ridgewood High School at 727-774-3900. Please leave a message and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can. You can also reach me by email at emccomis@pasco.k12.fl.us.
