• May 2014 – USACE selected Alternative 20 of the LA River Revitalization

• USACE is working on completing their study

• City will need to acquire land before proceeding with individual projects

DCT Advanced Water Purification Facility
• Advanced treatment of 25 MGD of water for ground water recharge or potential direct potable reuse

• Business Inclusion Program (BIP) - Complete the outreach summary sheet by the due date
• Contractors – don’t forget to watch for RFQ’s for on-call lists. Some have missed opportunities because they were in the habit of only looking for bids.
Hyperion Treatment Plant
● City owns 4 water reclamation plants and 6700 miles of sewers. Treat 500 million gallons of wastewater per day
● Plants operated and mainted by the Bureau of Sanitation
● Bureau of Engineering responsible for project management, design and construction management for collection systems and treatment plant program
● Utilize consultants to assist in delivery of Program
● Construction disciplines involved include mechanical, electrical, civil, structural, instrumentation, sewer repair/lining
● City expanding into more unique areas such as purified water and power generation
● Current list has 21 prime consultants on it
● Issue approximately $15M per year in fees
● Work consists of engineering studies, concept reports, pre-design reports, designs, staff augmentation and others
● Current list is valid for 5 year period and expires in August 2017
● Firms can submit Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) during next advertisement period which is expected early 2016
● BOE has other on-call lists such as architectural, civil, geotech, bridge, landscape, environmental, real estate, wastewater
● Firms on on-call list are invited to submit proposals
● Firms form teams with subconsultants and submit a proposal if interested
● BOE staff reviews proposals and conducts interviews (optional)
● Firms are evaluated on a best value approach
● BOE scores firms and selects highest ranking firm for scope of work and obtains approvals
● NTP issued to firm to start work
● Wastewater CIP $280M annually - about 50/50 split between collections/treatment plants
● Projects range from $500K - $100M +
● Projects can be simple rehab or new facilities
● Use traditional design-bid-build and design-build methods of delivery - majority is low bid
● Projects advertised through LABAVN www.labavn.org
