Assignment Description
The interception and treatment of wastewater flowing from the drains into River Ganga has been
identified as an immediate priority by the Government to reduce pollution load and improve the
environment around the river. Government intends to develop projects across 3 cities on the
Ganga basin which would comprise development of interception and diversion works to capture
the raw sewage flowing into the River Ganga through open drains and divert them to sewage
treatment plants for treatment.
IFC intends to assist Government(s) in designing and successfully bidding waste water treatment
plants in 3 cities to be developed on a public private partnership (PPP) basis ("Project"). IFC is
keen to engage a consultant firm to undertake technical, environmental & social due diligence
for the Project.
Qualification Criteria

1. Provide information of past experience in technical studies or detailed project reports
for development of wastewater treatment projects along with sewage network projects,
Social & Environmental Impact Assessment Studies for wastewater treatment and water
supply projects. Experience could be either as advisers to the Government in designing



such projects on EPC basis, buy-side or sell-side advisors or as engineers to companies
implementing such projects/lenders engineers *
2. Provide information of past experience in wastewater treatment projects. *
3. Provide information on the qualifications of key staff including wastewater treatment
specialist and environmental / social specialist. Experience on WBG projects and
exposure to WBG E&S guidelines is preferable *
4. Provide information on their core business and years in business. *
