Obstruction: a thing that impedes or prevents passage or progress; an obstacle or
blockage.
With the obstruction removed, water plunged down the creek bed, dragging debris
with it.

Contradict: to go against or say the opposite.
The “do not enter” sign was contradicted with an “enter Here” sign.
gress: step
Digress: to step away from the main topic and lose clarity; to wander in thoughts or
ideas.
The student was digressing from her topic of dogs in her paper when she started to
talk about fish.
bio: life
Biodiversity: the range of different plant and animal life in a particular habitat (or in
the world as a whole)
One measure of the biodiversity of an area is the number of species found there.
