Workshop Instructions:
On Wednesday, April 30 and Monday, May 5 we will be holding group peer review sessions at which I will be present. All workshops will take place in our classroom. Over those two class dates you are only required to be present at your scheduled workshop. As this provides you a great deal of time off from the class, there is no excuse to be late for or miss your session.
If you miss your session you will not receive credit for your draft. At each session we will, as a group, review each students’ draft. We will have a group discussion about the draft, providing the student with feedback and suggestions.
Session Requirements:
1.
TWO days before your session you must email your draft to everyone in your group AND to me ( NZeftel@gmail.com
). Email it as an attached Word or PDF document.
2.
Everyone in the group must print the drafts of all other group members. Therefore, if I am
Kimberley in Group A, I should expect to receive Mohammad’s, Donald’s and Sundeep’s papers by the evening of Monday, April 28. I will then print all of these papers, spend time reading each one, and will write comments on the side. I will then bring the paper to my session that begins at 2:55. This will not be difficult for me to accomplish as I have no other reading for Eng2800 that week.
3.
Before coming to the session, everyone in the group must ACTIVELY read (this means that you should use a pen or pencil as your read). You should mark up the draft, taking note of the following questions: Does the draft have a developed thesis statement? Does it effectively use its secondary source? Are there any grammatical issues? Be as clear in your commentary as you can, you will be giving the revised copies back to each group member.
Feel free to use the “track changes” feature on Microsoft Word to write your comments.
4.
As stated on your syllabus, preliminary scaffolding assignments (i.e. the paper proposal, draft, and workshop attendance) comprise 5% of your grade. In order to receive full credit for this workshop, you must accomplish all of the above tasks. Failure to email your paper on time, to show up on time, or to read the other group members’ papers, will result in deduction of points. As well, you must actively participate in the session to receive full credit.
Workshop Schedule : ***I will be sending a preliminary email to each group so that you all have one another’s email addresses.***
