With this website students will learn to describe and use a range of internet software packages, examine the features and strategies used in the design of a range of websites use a variety of features when designing and building a website and students will learn to develop a website for a particular task or purpose. Atomic Learning – I Web 09: http://www.atomiclearning.com/au/iweb09 Atomic learning is a website that has many tutorials on all different types of programs for both Windows and Macs. At Atomic Learning there is a detail tutorial covering everything that I web can do With this website students will again learn to describe and use a range of internet software packages, examine the features and strategies used in the design of a range of websites use a variety of features when designing and building a website and students will learn to develop a website for a particular task or purpose. I Web class task sheet: This class task sheet was what the class had to complete after listening to our presentation. The task sheet asked students to evaluate a website and discuss on the good and bad points about the website. The task sheet also got students to develop a website using I web on the history of the Internet. With the task sheet students will learn to identify a home page within a website, investigate a website and identify the features, use a variety of features when designing and building a website and to develop a website for a particular task or purpose. The task sheet also addressed the outcomes: 5.2.1 5.2.2 5.2.3 Class presentation on the Internet and website development: The presentation covered the history of the Internet from 1957 to 2010; we also looked into the use of E-mail Research via search engines Evaluating a website Chatting and messaging The presentation will help students to define and describe the internet, identify and discuss key historical events for the internet by developing a timeline, email a file to a set location, describe email etiquette, research using the internet for a given task, use search engines to undertake internet research, discuss the purpose of the world wide web, identify a home page within a website and to investigate a website and identify the features. Discovering Computers 2009 textbook: This text book was published at the end of 2008 for 2009, even though the book is now a couple years out of date, students will still be able to get the information that is needed on the internet and website development. The book has a whole chapter dedicated to the Internet and the World Wide Web and a chapter on communications and networks. Using this text students will learn to define and describe the internet, examine the features of a school or other intranet, compare and contrast an intranet with the internet, describe email etiquette, assess the use of the internet for communication in a variety of situations, describe and use a range of internet software packages, identify the types of protocols used over the internet and describe their purpose, discuss the purpose of the world wide web, critically analyze the effectiveness of a website to convey its message and they will learn to identify and discuss settings for web browsers as well as settings for information access and protection of data. History of the Internet video – You Tube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9hIQjrMHTv4 The you tube video is a good way of introducing the history of the internet in brief, it does not cover everything and does convey a lot over to the United Kingdom, and can go for a little long but other then that it is a very good start on learning the history of the internet. The video will help students learn to identify and discuss key historical events for the Internet by developing a timeline, assess the use of the Internet for communication in a variety of situations, and to identify the types of protocols used over the Internet and describe their purpose. There are also additional content to the Internet and website development option topic that students may choose to explore; this extra content can be answered by the above resources. This additional content students will learn about interactive web based projects and collaborative projects. From these students will learn to design and produce a web based project such as Web Quest for a selected topic, evaluate the effectiveness of a web based project and to register online and participate in a collaborative project in an area of interest by using PB works, word press, etc.
