EXPAND YOUR ACADEMIC HORIZONS
WITH Global Pathways Student - GPS
GPS Student Panels provide a chance for you to hear stories from upper class students about the experiences
they had with various opportunities, including those listed below. We hope this will help you realize that there are
many wonderful options for you to choose from – and many are easier to participate in than you might have
imagined!
Five College Interchange: UMass Amherst undergraduates who meet basic participation criteria (be a second
semester freshman - or beyond – AND be in good academic standing AND be registered in at least one 3-credit
UMass course) can enroll in courses at Amherst, Hampshire, Mount Holyoke, and Smith Colleges (no fee).
Domestic Exchange: Domestic Exchanges permit UMass students to spend a semester or a year at another
college or university through the National Student Exchange (NSE) program.
International Programs Office: Study Abroad: There are over 400 UMass Amherst-sponsored programs in more
than 50 countries around the world. More than 1000 UMass Amherst undergraduates go abroad each year.
Civic Engagement & Service Learning: Discover how to connect courses, learning and community service.
Career Services: Internships and Co-ops: Learn about ways to get an internship or co-op experience. These
opportunities could help you ‘test out’ a possible career, get some work experience, build your resume, and/or do
some preliminary networking.”
