THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL
Text: I Timothy 6:10
• 1Ti 6:10 For the love of money
is the root of all evil: which
while some coveted after, they
have erred from the faith, and
pierced themselves through
with many sorrows (KJV).
INTRO:
• The Bible didn’t say satan is the
root of all evil.
• What makes the money the root
of all evil?
• Why not love towards the
opposite sex or somebody else?
AIM:
• FOR US TO LOVE THE LORD
WITH ALL OUR HEART
• FOR US TO FLEE FROM GREED
AND LOVE OF MONEY
• FOR US TO BE FROM
UNNECESSARY RUIN AND
DESTRUCTION
I. THE COMMAND TO LOVE THE
LORD OUR GOD WITH ALL OUR
HEART
• Deuteronomy 6:5 "You shall love
the LORD your God with all your
heart, with all your soul, and with
all your strength.

II. WHAT COMES OUT MANIFEST
WHAT IS WITHIN
• Mat 12:35 "A good man out of the
good treasure of his heart [fn]
brings forth good things, and an
evil man out of the evil treasure
brings forth evil things.
• Mar 7:20 And He said, "What
comes out of a man, that defiles
a man.
• Mar 7:21 "For from within, out of
the heart of men, proceed evil
thoughts, adulteries,
fornications, murders,
• Mar 7:22 "thefts, covetousness,
wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an
evil eye, blasphemy, pride,
foolishness.
• Mark 7:23 "All these evil things
come from within and defile a
man.“

III. OUR LIFE IS THE RESULT OF
THE THOUGHT PROCESSES IN
OUR HEARTS
• Pro 23:7 For as he thinks in his
heart, so [is] he.
• The centre of reasoning
• Not the conscious but the subconscious mind
• Eph 1:18 I pray that the eyes of
your heart may be enlightened
IV. DANGEROUS TIMES WILL
COME
• 2Ti 3:1 But know this, that in the
last days perilous times will
come
• 2Ti 3:2 For men will be lovers of
themselves, lovers of money,
boasters, proud, blasphemers,
disobedient to parents,
unthankful, unholy,
• 2Ti 3:3 unloving, unforgiving,
slanderers, without self-control,
brutal, despisers of good,
• 2Ti 3:4 traitors, headstrong,
haughty, lovers of pleasure
rather than lovers of God,
• 2Ti 3:5 having a form of
godliness but denying its power.
And from such people turn away!
• Psalm 127:2 It is vain for you to
rise up early, To retire late, To eat
the bread of painful labours; For
He gives to His beloved even in
his sleep.
• Psalm 127:3 Behold, children
are a gift of the LORD, The fruit
of the womb is a reward.
• Psalm 127:4 Like arrows in the
hand of a warrior, So are the
children of one's youth.
• Psalm 127:5 How blessed is the
man whose quiver is full of them;
They will not be ashamed When
they speak with their enemies in
the gate.
V. AS A MAN OF GOD
1. Flee from these things
• From love of money
• From greed
• Covetousness
• Thefts
• Deceit
• Pride
• Foolishness
• Wickedness
• Evil Eye
• Blasphemy
• Fornication
• Murders
• Lewdness
2. Be content when you have food
and clothing-v 8
3. Pursue righteousness,
godliness, faith, love, patience,
gentleness-v 11
4. Fight the good fight of faith-v 12
5. Lay hold on eternal life-v 12
CHALLENGE:
• Do you love God with all your
heart?
• With all your mind?
• With all your soul?
• Any percentage of love not given
to God goes to love of money.
CONCLUSION:
• 1Ti 6:10 For the love of money
is the root of all evil: which while
