If God Wrote Your Biography Psalm 15:1-5 Introduction: A. Biographies are works that describe a life. They give us insight into the lives of people we might not normally know much about. B. Psalm 15 is a great description of what a Christian’s biography should look like in the eyes of God. Am I A Person of Integrity and Righteousness (v. 2)? A. This does not mean we are perfect, but we walk seeking to do God’s will, without legitimate accusation before God or others. B. We should live in such a way so others have nothing bad to say about us. Are My Words Truthful and Helpful or Harmful and Hurtful (vs. 2-3)? A. God sets an incredibly high standard for our speech (Jam. 1:26; 3:5-11). B. We should be on the construction crew, not the destruction crew (Eph. 4:29). Do I Oppose Evil and Honor Good (v. 4)? A. We should despise evil to the extent we can’t be around it (Psa. 119:104; Prov. 8:13). B. We should honor those who fear and respect the Lord by speaking highly of them in the presence of others. Do I Keep My Commitments (v. 4)? A. Keeping our word is part of our spiritual commitment. B. When we give our word, we should keep it even if that commitment costs us dearly. Do I Help the Helpless (v. 5)? A. Personal gain should not be achieved by wrongfully defrauding our fellow man. B. Christians should be characterized by an open hand of generosity (Matt. 10:8). Conclusion: A. If God were writing our biographies, could He describe us with the résumé given in this Psalm? B. Fortunately, God has blessed us with another day to continue creating a life that is acceptable to Him. Justin Morton Sunday AM 2-17-2013
