3M is seeking a Strategic Business Development Analyst for the Electronics & Energy Business
Group located in Austin, Texas.
Job Summary:
An intern (typical 10-12 week, full-time schedule assignment) position is a temporary assignment with
3M's Corporate Student Programs. Corporate Student Programs is designed to provide 3M with the
opportunity to identify qualified candidates for regular employment, and to provide students with the
opportunity to integrate their academic knowledge with work experience. As a Student Programs
participant located in [Austin, Texas] you will develop skills, and gain work experience in your field of
study.
This position is limited to working 899 hours per service credit year.
The person hired for the position of Strategic Business Development Analyst - Intern will provide internal
consulting services to 3M's Electronics and Energy (E&E) business group, headquartered in Austin,
Texas. Analysts work closely with business development, marketing, sales, and technical personnel to
address a variety of domestic and international business situations. This leadership development
program offers analysts the opportunity to contribute daily to the growth of 3M. Analysts typically stay
in SBD for two years before rolling out into one of 3M's divisions.
Project Areas Include:
Marketing: Marketing and product opportunity analysis; go to market strategy; commercialization of
new products; pricing analysis; adjacent market opportunity analysis; other (segmentation, branding,
eBusiness)
Strategy: Corporate, global business and division-level strategic planning; portfolio prioritization;
competitor and customer analysis; technology assessment; supply chain strategy; productivity analysis,
emerging business opportunity strategy development
Business Development: Business modeling; new business development processes; mergers and
acquisitions; white space opportunity development
Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
* Building and managing client relationships
* Leading cross-functional teams
* Conducting primary and secondary research to obtain market data
* Analyzing business data and making actionable recommendations to 3M management
* Supporting 3M Marketing Excellence through methodology development and deployment
Basic Qualifications:
* Currently pursuing a Master's of Business Administration from an accredited university
Preferred Qualifications:
* Current cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale
* Superior quantitative and analytical skills
* Strong interpersonal, project management and communication skills
* Demonstrated leadership abilities
* Prior work experience may include technical/engineering role, marketing or business development,
and/or consulting
Location: Austin, Texas
Travel: May include up to 10% domestic/international
