Definition:
Northern Ireland is made up of six northern counties, and has a
Protestant majority. It is politically affiliated with Great Britain
since the rest of Ireland won its independence from Great
Britain in 1922.
Historical Significance:
Conflict arose in Ireland between the Protestants in Northern
Ireland and the Catholics of the Republic of Ireland.
