60% Tests & Quizzes 30% Homework 10% Participation & Preparation YES – Work should be written in them. NO – Pages shouldn’t be ripped out unless a math teacher indicates. Books can be accessed online at my.hrw.com. Pages can even be printed at home! Random homework assignments count for points. Each homework that counts is worth 2 points. Work must be shown to receive credit. Half credit is possible on incomplete assignments if work is shown and at least half of the assignment is complete. Every Day 6 is Study Island Day… in this room! Each assignment (sometimes 2 in a day) will receive a 3 point test grade. Full credit will be received for 10 questions done with a BLUE ribbon. Any student who doesn’t earn a 3 on Day 6, will be permitted to continue to work on it at home throughout the week to have the grade adjusted by the next Day 6. AFTER THAT WEEK, THE BLUE RIBBON WILL STILL BE REQUIRED BUT THE GRADE WON’T CHANGE!! Students may ask for the topic to be cleared to start from scratch….every day if necessary! Arrangements can be made to use a school computer before or after school for students who do not have internet access at home. Each student receives a homework pass. Students can sign it, date it, and indicate the assignment to receive full credit. It may be used as 5 points bonus on a test at the end of the 9-weeks IF there are no zeroes in the homework column. If it is not used during the first 9-weeks, it may carry over to another 9-weeks. A new bonus problem is put up every Monday. Students must copy the entire problem and show work in an attempt to receive 1 bonus point. Correct solutions will receive an additional bonus point. Problems must be submitted by Friday to receive any bonus. This is the only opportunity for extra credit! Students have access to a 4-function calculator every day which must stay in the room. These calculators must stay in the room for the students in all of the other classes to use. Scientific and/or graphing calculators are not permitted. Each course has a column on the assignment board near the door. (Pre-Algebra 8, Trans Math 8, Math 7) Classwork and Homework assignments will be indicated daily. Keeping an assignment planner is HIGHLY suggested! When absent, the Assignment Board should be checked to see what assignments were missed. This means classwork, homework assignments, graded papers, etc. If the Assignment Board indicates there was a Practice sheet distributed, it can be found in the Make-Up Work crate just inside the door. (Missed tests will not be in the crate.) Students have the same number of days as were missed to complete make-up work. Assignments given on the last day present will be due on the first day back.
