Create a Poem/Song
Write a two-stanza poem or song using at least
five vocabulary words.
Colors
Choose five vocabulary words. For each word,
choose a color that represents the word. Then
explain the connection between the word and the
color (i.e. gory could be symbolized with the color
red because gory means bloody and blood is red).
Crossword Puzzle
Log onto www.puzzlemaker.com. Create a
crossword puzzle using at least 10 of the
vocabulary words.
Comic Strip/Cartoon
Create a comic strip using five of the vocabulary
words. Be sure to include context clues to
demonstrate your understanding of the words.
Roots
Choose five vocabulary words. Identify any
prefixes, suffixes, and/or root words that may be
present in the word. Define each of the suffixes,
and define the word (i.e. transport: trans-across,
port-carry).
PowerPoint
Create a PowerPoint presentation that includes
five vocabulary words, their definitions, parts of
speech, synonyms and antonyms, and a picture
that represents the word.
Magazine Cut Outs
Portray five of the vocabulary words through
pictures you find in magazines. Cut out each
picture and record the word beneath it. Be sure
to explain the connection between each picture
and vocabulary word.
Sentences
Choose 10 vocabulary words. Write a sentence for
each of the words. Be sure to use context clues
to demonstrate your understanding of the word.
Write a Letter
Write a letter to a friend/sibling that describes
your experience in 6th grade. In your letter, be
sure to include five vocabulary words and context
clues to demonstrate your understanding of the
words.
Write a Story
Write a cohesive short story. Use at least five
vocabulary words. Be sure to include context clues
to demonstrate your understanding of the words.
Game Maker
Create a vocabulary review game using the
synonyms and antonyms for eight of the
vocabulary words.
Flash Cards
Create vocabulary word flash cards for 10 of the
words in the unit. The flash cards should include
the definition, synonyms, antonyms, part of
speech, and an illustration that represents each
word.
