Getting Started
Headline &
Objective:
1. Enter a title (Headline) for this resume. The title will allow you to
differentiate between the possible five resumes that you may have in the
system (only one is searchable at a time).
2. Objective should define what you want to do in your prospective job
and what you have to offer.
Candidate
Information:
The accuracy and currency of your contact phone and email are
especially important as these are the means by which the selecting
officials and/or personnel offices make inquiries and/or job offers.
Target Job:
Provides Federal recruiters with additional detail on type of
position you are seeking.
Target Location:
Be sure to select all geographic areas for which you desire to
be considered.
Relevant
Experience:
1. Keep sentences short and clear. Provide maximum information with
minimum words.
2. Focus on outcome. Discuss the whats, hows and the breadth and scope
of your experiences.
3. Describe your experiences in leadership positions (i.e., President of
Student Council), extracurricular activities, and internships.
Education:
Follow instructions carefully. Be prepared to provide documentation or
proof that your degree(s) meet the requirements outlined in the
instructions below. Providing false information regarding education will
eliminate you from consideration.
Affiliations:
Can include both professional affiliations and other memberships
(community service, volunteer organizations, etc.).
Skills:
List relevant skills and abilities in this area such as
computer software, other languages, typing skills, etc.

1. Supplemental Information: Used to include information
required in specific job announcements.
2. Training Courses: Used to provide information regarding
training courses outside of those taken to earn your degree.
