GREENPEACE www.greenpeace.org Mission: Greenpeace is an independent global campaigning organization that acts to change attitudes and behavior, to protect and conserve the environment and to promote peace. In 1971, motivated by their vision of a green and peaceful world, a small team of activists set sail from Vancouver, Canada, in an old fishing boat. These activists, the founders of Greenpeace, believed a few individuals could make a difference. Greenpeace International is based in Amsterdam and has volunteering opportunities from time to time for those who are interested in helping us out in the office and, occasionally, in the field. In order to volunteer at the Greenpeace International office in Amsterdam, you must be in possession of an EU passport or valid Dutch Working permit. The availability of volunteering opportunity at the office varies depending on ongoing projects. Greenpeace International employs more than 150 staff, from all corners of the globe, all dedicated to meeting the professional standards expected of the world's leading campaigning organization for the environment. From the Amsterdam office employees lead global campaigns and provide strategic support to our national and regional offices, funded by millions of members worldwide. Greenpeace is therefore looking for dynamic team players who want to make a difference. Greenpeace welcomes aboard the people who run our well-known campaigns, actions and ship unit staff, as well researchers, fundraisers, press officers, political, legal and human resources advisors, finance specialists and many more. Greenpeace only accepts applications to the advertised positions. It's going to look better at your interview if you have already taken action with Greenpeace. Greenpeace also offers various internships every year. As an intern, not only are you able to work on a daily basis with experienced environmental activists, but you will also be able to participate in trainings such as corporate campaigning, non-violent direct action, media relations, materials production and grassroots outreach. You can also take action with Greenpeace via your computer by signing up as a cyber activist. You will be sent free information about what you can do to help win campaigns for the environment.
