(Nov. 11, 2009) – The Mocking Birds, a popular 1970s rock band, played at Greenpeace’s recycling event Saturday afternoon to show their support for the go green initiative. The Mocking Birds have not played for an audience since August 1986. Johnny Cangoods, the lead singer, said they decided to play at the event unanimously because of the importance of Greenpeace’s cause. These events make people realize there is something they can do to help the environment, we just entertain them in the process, Cangoods said. Greenpeace’s core values are reflected in their environmental campaign work, exposing threats to the environment and finding solutions. They seek solutions for, and promote open, informed debate about society's environmental choices. -30-
