AGENDAS FOR THE WEEK: MONDAY 9:36 – 10:29,10:35 – 11:25 P L Resources: TUESDAY WEDNESDAY THURSDAY FRIDAY 9:36 – 10:29,10:35 – 11:25 9:36 – 10:29,10:35 – 11:25 9:36 – 10:29,10:35 – 11:25 9:36 – 10:29,10:35 – 11:25 Objective(s): SWBAT * Use safe lab practice to separate substances based upon differences in solubilites. * Make observations and record observations in a scientific manner in their lab notebooks. * Draw conclusions from their data and observations. Objective(s): SWBAT * Answer questions relating to the concepts in lab as well as those concerning IMFs, solids, and advanced organic nomenclature. Objective(s): SWBAT * Articulate concepts of molecular geometry, IMFs, and types of solids to other group members * Answer test-like questions in their small group. Objective(s): SWBAT *Articulate to fellow group members the concepts taught over the course of this unit. *Put into practice the information that they learned over the course of this unit to answer test-like questions. Objective(s): SWBAT * Given the name or formula of a compound that is covalently bound, find the formula or name. * Given the name or formula of a compound that is ionically bound, find the formula or name. Lab Students will participate in a lab that demonstrates chromatography. Students will separate substances based upon their solubilites. Explore Students will participate in a kahoot that covers all the material from unit 7. This will be an environment in which they can initially assess their understanding or misunderstandings of each of the topics covered prior to taking the group practice the following day. This will allow students to better assess what they need to study in order to be successful. Group Practice Students will be put in groups of four to complete the group practice. Unit 7 Exam Explain Students will be formally introduced to covalent and ionic (univalent) nomenclature. Evaluate and Summary The students will be given lab 71 (VSEPR Theory). Evaluate and Summary Students will take quiz 7-2 (IMFs, solids, advanced organic) and the lab quiz. Evaluate and Summary Students will be evaluated by how well they perform on the unit 7 exam. Evaluate and Summary With the time remaining in class, students will begin working on homework 8A. Provided curriculum from Westlake HS Chemistry Department. Evaluate and Summary Students will be evaluated by how well they perform on the unit 7 group practice as well as on how well they can verbalize complex ideas in a group setting. A N November 9 – November 13 Explain Students will articulate information to each other over the course of the group practice.
