Project update – August 2014
Project Nears Completion
The Robinson Road Open Level Crossing Replacement Project in Geebung is on track to be
completed this month, three months ahead of schedule.
Works planned to be undertaken this month include:





Completing and commissioning the new pedestrian overpass bridge at Geebung Station
completing streetscape works at the commuter car park and plaza area on the northern
side of Geebung Station
reopening Morrisby Street to Newman Road to one-way traffic
completing streetscape rehabilitation works in the Geebung retail precinct
completing works for the Zillman Waterholes Bikeway Extension.
Geebung Station access
The GO Alliance and Queensland Rail are working closely together to complete the new
pedestrian overpass bridge this month.
Until this bridge opens, changes to Geebung Station access will remain in place with pedestrian
access to platforms one and two across the open level crossing closed. The nearest accessible
stations providing assisted access are Zillmere and Sunshine stations.
Once the bridge is opened, access to platforms one and two will be reinstated via the new
pedestrian overpass bridge.

Out of hours works
In the following weeks, some out of hours works will be required (outlined below). Additional
information about these works is available in works notices that have recently been issued to the
community.




Oversized truck deliveries to the pedestrian bridge between 5am and 6:30am (due to
oversize load permit restrictions) until mid-August.
Streetscape rehabilitation works at the Railway Parade retail precinct.
Installation of centre median islands on Robinson Road East.
Out of hours works at the pedestrian overpass bridge.
Queensland Rail track closures
Works to finalise the pedestrian overpass bridge will be carried out on Saturday 30 and
Sunday 31 August 2014 during Queensland Rail’s next full scheduled closure of the rail
corridor between Northgate and Gympie North.
Additional information about these works and the closure will be provided to residents
and businesses by the alliance and Queensland Rail closer to the time.

The $199 million Robinson Road Open Level Crossing Replacement Project will deliver an
important east-west connection by providing a new road-over-rail overpass, connecting Robinson
Road East and Robinson Road West. Jointly funded by Brisbane City Council and the
Queensland Government, the project will improve safety, connectivity and travel times and
reduce road congestion in the area.
Brisbane City Council has partnered with BMD Constructions and SMEC Australia to form the
Geebung Overpass (GO) Alliance to design and construct the project by late 2014.
