BT reserves the right to make changes to the information in this Presentation at any time without further notice. 1 Customer Service / BTID Network Change - Executive Summary 20c DSLAM MSIP to SDH Migration Programme No. 46 REQUIREMENT • As part of MSIP platform closure all IP Stream 20c BB data needs to migrated off MSIP platform on to direct SDH transmission. SCOPE • To achieve closure 5155 DSLAMS require a migration activity. CUSTOMER IMPACT • This migration will impact service for 20c broadband customers on the DSLAM in question for a maximum of 10 minutes. Average of 250 BB EU per migration. PROGRESS • COMPLETED 23/10!! 5155 DSLAMS migrated. 2 Customer Service / BTID Network Change - Executive Summary Software / Hardware Upgrade – 21c Core / Metro Programme No. 45 REQUIREMENT • The same hardware switch is used to deliver many functions in the 21c platform. These include EEA / EES / IEA / MSE & MSC. • Software and hardware upgrades were completed earlier this year on all devices to deliver IPv6 support, maintain vendor support and reduce customer impacting hardware failures. • Focus has now moved to patch upgrades to the software to complete the software deployment and also some hardware upgrades which were not possible during the main upgrade phase. SCOPE • This second phase of work covers 817 devices. CUSTOMER IMPACT • The software upgrade may result in a 8 minute service outage for Broadband end users. This is notified as a 45 minute outage to cover contingency and manual intervention. PROGRESS • 3 778 of the upgrades have been completed and we are on track to complete in January 2016. Customer Service / BTID Network Change - Executive Summary Primary Vendor MSAN Software Upgrade Programme No. TBA REQUIREMENT • Software upgrade to all primary vendor MSANs. • Software upgrades are required on all devices to remove software defects (bug fixes) and deliver improved TV Services. SCOPE • A total of 8416 switches require this upgrade. CUSTOMER IMPACT • The software upgrade will result in a 10 minute service outage for Broadband end users. PROGRESS 4 • 2981 MSAN’s now completed since 2nd June. • 41 equipment failures, resolved in PEW window • 10 equipment failures, resulting in over-running PEW. • No failures outside PEW window since 7th October • Plan is currently on track to complete in April 2016 Customer Service / BTID Network Change - Executive Summary Other Core / Metro Network Change Updates • • • • 5 IPv6 enablement on existing core / metro devices is ongoing. There is no planned customer impact as a result of this work. Trials have now commenced. MSE progress. There are now more than 5.29 million BB EU supported on 674 MSE. 2015/16 target has now been agreed as 6.7million EU on 800 MSE. Core P router replacement project is progressing well. This project will be transparent to the customers and CP. Driver for this replacement project is platform scaling. Project is on track to complete in early February 16. MSPE software upgrades Software upgrades on the primary vendor MSPE are ongoing. To date 82 of 212 upgrades have been completed without impact to customer service. Customer Service / BTID Network Change - Executive Summary Change Performance • • • 6 Change volumes for 15/16 are currently running at an average of 257 PEWs per week. This is slightly over BT target volume of 248 per week but with reduced change volumes forecast is in line to complete year on target. Network Change success rates are at 99.93%, which is at best in industry levels on the Quest industry measures.
