ACADEMIC ACCELERATOR AND EXTENDED ACCELERATOR PROGRAMS (2 AND 3 TERMS)
HEALTH
In order to register for classes during your first week on campus, you must submit health forms prior to arrival.
 All students: Immunization Form
This form needs to be completed by authorized medical personnel and scanned and emailed to
admissions@global.fiu.com before your arrival. Also, please bring a copy of the form and any
other medical documentation including immunization records you may have with you to
campus.
 Under 18: Minor Consent Form
If you are under the age of 18, please also have your parents compete the consent for
treatment of a minor form and scan and email this back to us.
All forms can also be found in the pre arrival section of our website: http://www.globalfiu.com/welcome

Note: All students will receive health insurance upon arrival, you do not need to complete any
paperwork ahead of time.
HOUSING
Once you have entered your flight information on our website, you will receive a confirmation of your living
arrangements. Students in the Global First Year program are expected to live on-campus during participation
in the program. Global First Year students will be living in individual rooms within a shared suite with 2 or 3
other students. Students will share a kitchen and bathroom with their suitemates.
Very few exceptions to our on-campus housing policy will be made. If you would like to request to live offcampus because of a special circumstance, a housing waiver request form must be submitted no later than 30
days before arrival. No requests to live off-campus will be considered within 30 days of move-in.
Please keep in mind that you need to send a proof of payment for the program to admissions before your
arrival or you will not be able to move-in to the residential hall and get your class schedule.
MEALS
All students living on-campus have a full meal plan. During your orientation, you will be given two different
options to choose from.
ORIENTATION
All students need to be on campus by the first day of orientation, generally a week before classes start. This
may mean that you need to book your flight a day early and stay in a hotel to make sure to be present on
time. On the website you can see a sample of what your orientation week will entail.
As part of orientation, you will have to take a Math Placement Exam on the computer. We suggest that you
study for this exam before arriving so you are better prepared and can be accurately placed in a Math class.

ACADEMICS
During orientation week you will learn more about the classes you will be taking. The majority of your classes
will be with other Global First Year Students. You also may be in a class with students that are not a part of the
Global First Year program. Please be aware that students do not have a lot of choice in class schedules during
the first year.
During orientation week you also need to purchase textbooks and other materials for your classes. Please
plan on bringing extra money for this expense.
