Imagine a perfect world. Imagine all of the things that make you happy.

This perfect world is known as a utopia.

Utopia

(n) : a world in which everything and everyone works in perfect harmony.

 You will create a 5 x 7 postcard with two sides. I suggest you use poster paper, card stock or an index card.

 The first card will include a collage/drawing/photograph/computer image that clearly shows how you envision your utopia.

 The second card will include a well-written paragraph explaining the key elements of your utopia.

A well-written paragraph includes a topic sentence, at least 8 supporting details and a concluding sentence. You may write more than 8 supporting details. Keep the following in mind when writing your paragraph:

The topic sentence should tell the reader what your paragraph is going to be about. In this case, you are writing about your utopia. You are introducing your reader to your utopia. You may want to include the name of your utopia in your topic sentence.

The supporting details should tell the reader specific facts about your utopia. You may want to include information about how people learn, how rules are enforced, who leads this utopia, transportation, and/or languages spoken in this utopia.

The concluding sentence should restate the topic sentence using different words.

 You may type or neatly print the paragraph.

 Your first and last name, English ID and homeroom should be written on the front of the postcard in the lower-right-hand corner.

On the due date, you will submit your postcard AND rubric during your

English class. You will not be permitted to submit any work at any other time during the day.
