Office of student ombuds hear university related complaints here at UT. How many people have difficulty with a UT policy before? Here to listen and see if we can put you back on track. Our job is to know all the policies here. Confidentialcan talk openly about concerns. Dispute grade? Scholastic dishonesty concern? Not here for advocates on either side, explain policy and have creative solutions. Independent- we report directly to the President. Informal- we don’t do formal complaints, grievance. We know something is up here. Can talk about what to do. Typical undergrad problems. We ask a lot of questions, we ask some clarifying questions. What do you think your advisor isn’t helping? Active coaching on written communication in meetings. Training/systemic change. Upward feedback to other offices. We don’t advocate, do formal investigations, share info, etc. Preservation and building of relationships, some key faculty can help. Amber- figure out parking situation, spread some general info about PTS, also good info. We have standard buses at West Campus, Riverside, etc. All have population counters. Doing the best they can to get them running well. Funded through student services budget. Hasn’t increased in quite a few years. Ebus is also important, will send out a survey to gauge interest. Changes will be happen. There will be some parking garages. Thought about doing away with Sunday bus routes, Friday hard, etc. XII. Judicial Report XIII. Unfinished Business XIV. New Business a. AR 25- In Support of an Adaptive Sports and Recreation Program i. Have been meeting with rec sports, want to show student support for initiative. No adaptive at UT. Working with them to get PR efforts, more info on the web, etc. Moving Mavs at UT dallas, recreation IM sports, some schools have community members, they have wheelcharis for those who don’t need wheelchairs, etc. Q/Egan- statistics question, are these just physical disabilities? Most obvious ones, not allowed to say how many have specific disabilities. Q/Crane- how many shown interest? Comparable interest have this, vibrant programs with advertisement. Committed to Student Affairs Committee. b. AB 5- Redirecting the Profits of the Ornament Sales i. Ornaments from revenue, we get endowments to change this to transfer student scholarship. Q/Crane- is this replacing anthing in the code? Just an additional part. Under the endowments section. Committed to Rules and Reg. Committee. c. AB 6- Redefining the Student Government Endowments i. Long- Green fee referendum in committee right now. Currently state law does not allow for a renewal for the fee. No renewal clause in the bill. With that, I will be meeting with the Green Fee Committee right now. Started on a resolution right now to say that UT would like to continue. Ms. Karen Blaney had a lot of ideas about this b. Geison- dining services, taylor and Wesley have worked with survey to send us, ask students what they want to see out of the dining services. Sent to me and Jessica, looking to send out to students over the next few days. Yall know that’s coming. c. Banner- few issues with engineering buildings, hopefully trying to fix all this. Met with dean today. d. Starling- Working on legislation in support of public health week, great organization, could use some more health promotion, let me know.
