a. Andrew Jackson-voice disapproval of campus carry resolution. Didn’t know of vote until
late last night. Learned that this resolution was filed very recently. All voting
representatives won’t be able to gauge for students. Insufficient time because you gotta
deliberate about what campus carry is. Opposition to campus carry is not the voice of
students. CHL students would not be able to exercise their rights. 2 women were held up
in West Campus recently. Texas DPS- 800,000 CHL, 3% holder rate, only 2%. Motion
to add 2 minutes passes. Less likely to be convicted of violent crime. Only 120 were
committed by CHL holders. Vote against the opposition resolution.
b. Stephen Bennett- CHL holders are misrepresented. Concerns with mental wellbeing, but
requirements is to have a clean slate and no mental illnesses. Illegal under Texas state law
to carry while intoxicated. Certification teaches when to discharge your weapon, only do
it in life or death situations. Concealed carry means not easily accessible by thief. Motion
to add 2 minutes to time passes.
c. Spencer Railey- In opposition to AR 30, this resolution shows concerns with control.
Will see warning signs before mental illness. Trained motion of CHL users. Allowed in
Utah with no increase in crime. Deterrent effect. Allowed at malls.
d. Crystal Nora- director of African American Center, it’s Black History Month. 1965 UT.
3.5% of African American students here, despite some challenges. Invite SAC
auditorium, history performance, 7pm, hnoring faculty, learn more about student
associations Feb 19th, 7pm. End of week party at Gregory Plaza. Q/Nalley- online? Yes.

i. Used as tool to talk to legislators about Green Fee, approval of committee,
suggestions would be welcome in committee. Q/Falke- did this expire? Yes,
referendum didn’t allow for renewal in original state law. Already been in talks
with other UT System schools, bring awareness to cause. This action will be
pursued instead of referendum currently in committee. Committed to SA
committee.
d. AR 29- In Support of Extracurricular Flag Credits
i. Please co-sponsor this. Always had some top professors in the nation. Stand out
as an institution. Becoming harder to stand out purely on that aspect. Can get
credit for them on resume, but not to the extent of UT approval, after meeting
with Dean Iverson, mentioned by Bill Powers. Can change the face of education.
