Additional Information
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree. Three years of experience in systems design,
analysis
and programming. Experience using SPSS, SAS, or other general
statistical software programs. Experience in survey design and
methodology. Experience in performing statistical analysis, including
ANOVA and regression. Equivalent combination of relevant education and
experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's or doctoral degree in a research-related field. Graduate-level
coursework in statistics (e.g., biostatistics, biometrics,
econometrics,
psychometrics, etc.) and research methodology (e.g., survey sampling
design, questionnaire design, experimental design, longitudinal data
analysis, program evaluation, etc.). Two or more years' experience
using
SPSS or SAS. Experience with additional statistical software programs
such as EQS, HLM, AMOS, Mplus, LISREL, Stata, SPlus, or SUDAAN.
Experience with advanced statistical techniques, such as generalized
linear modeling, mixed modeling, or structural equation modeling.
Experience providing statistical or methodological consulting on a
broad
range of topics. Experience in project management. Experience in using
Internet tools and web publishing. Experience teaching applied
statistics and research methodology. Excellent oral presentation
skills.
Excellent writing skills, with a record of contributing to written
grants, publications, or presentations in the social or natural
sciences.
Purpose of This Position
Consults with UT researchers on wide range of statistical/research
topics; leads data analyses & survey research projects; develops
metrics
to measure operation results; provides documentation/training for
statistical software & statistical analyses.
Essential Functions
Assist graduate students with research design and statistical analysis
issues. Assist faculty with grant development issues, including power
analysis. Assist ITS and other organizations on campus with the
development of metrics as part of their quality assessment efforts.
Provide leadership for statistical analyses and survey research
projects, including defining projects and setting project timelines and
deliverables. Assist in analysis and reporting of data from
transactional databases for technically-oriented services such as the
ITS Help Desk. Develop and maintain documentation for statistics and
research design. Teach short courses on statistical software and
statistics; give presentations on research design and project results.
Emphasize professional development in statistics, survey research
design, quality assessment, and statistical software applications.
Marginal/incidental Functions
Other related functions as assigned.
