Andy Warhol Endangered Species FOTOFLEXER
4th Grade
Objectives:
Students will learn about the artist Andy Warhol.
Students will learn about the art style of Pop (Popular) Art.
Students will learn about the process of Printmaking.
Students will explore the program FOTOFLEXER and learn
about digital photography.
Students will create Warhol inspired art using the online photo
editing program FOTOFLEXER.
Students will design their art in the style of Andy Warhol.
Materials:
Animal photos
Computer Printer
Computers
Day 1:
Discuss the artist Andy Warhol. Show the Warhol PPT or show images of his art on the board. Discuss
the art style of Pop Art and the technique of Printmaking. Discuss his themes and series and show
images of his endangered species series. Demonstrate how to create the project.
1) Choose a photo of an endangered species
2) Explore the website FOTOFLERER and see how the program can edit photos.
Day 2:
Review Andy Warhol. Either read the book or show the video Getting to Know the World’s Greatest
Artists: Andy Warhol. Demonstrate:
1) How to select an animal photo and how to begin editing it in the style of Warhol.
2) Use the Effect: Heat Map to change the color. Using the sliding bar adjust the “Hue”. Apply.
3) To use the desired effect click “Apply” to cancel changes click “Undo”.
4) Use the Decorate: Pencil to draw on the photo in the style of Warhol. Remember to undo if
you don’t’ like something before moving on. You can’t always go back to make changes.
5) To change the thickness of the line using the sliding bar: Brush Size. To change the color click
on the rainbow and choose a new color, you can also change the value of the color this way,
6) Use Beautify: To Sharpen the image.
7) Save to my computer if not completed or Jump drive if done using first name.
Day 3:
Discuss printmaking and how you can print the same image over and over. Review the steps in
FOTOFLEXER. Finish working on project. When completed explore other applications on FOTOFLEXER.
