EARLY LIFE
• Born August 6, 1928 in Pittsburgh,
Pennsylvania
• Took up drawing and photography at the
age of 8
• His father put his entire life savings
towards Warhol’s education
• Attended the Carnegie Institute for
Technology
• Started his career as a commercial
illustrator for magazines

• In addition to his paintings, Warhol was known for his
sculptures, prints, films and involvement in the music
industry.
INFLUENCES
• Warhol was influenced by artist Salvador Dali.
• Both described as being “radical”.
• Dali also used a variety of mediums such as painting,
sculpture and film.
IMPACT
• Even though he believed “In the
future, everyone will be world-famous
for 15 minutes”, that did not apply to
him.
• Major influence to pop artists today
• Started the idea that things of modern
life could be art
• The Andy Warhol Museum in
Pittsburgh is the largest museum
dedicated to a single artist.
