Dear sub,
Thank you so much for subbing for me! I teach 5 periods at the High School and two periods at the
Middle School. My schedule is the following:
1st period: Spanish IV
2nd period: Spanish I
3rd period: Spanish IV
4th period: Spanish I
5th period: Spanish I
LUNCH
6th period: plan
7th period: 8th grade (starts at 2:05 pm)
8th period: 7th grade.
SPANISH IV & SPANISH I:
You will need a computer, so stop by the office and ask them to provide you with a laptop, please.
At the beginning of the class students are expected to work on the “bellwork” assignment that they will
find on the board. It shouldn’t take them longer than 2 or 3 minutes. Please tell them that we will check
their answers when I return.
When they are finished with their “bellwork”, they will need to do the weekly reading assignment. You
will find the articles (yellow papers) right under the Spanish flag. The title of the article is “Helping
Others Attain Citizenship”. The procedure is the following:
- Students read in silence and they are finished reading they leave their papers face down on their
desks.
- When all students are finished reading students get their computers and go to the following
website: http://tinyurl.com/cq2w98u In that url they will find a questionnaire (they can use the
articles to answer the questions)
- When they have submitted their answers they are expected to shut down their computers and
put it away.
In the top right hand side drawer in my desk you will find a white folder labeled “FOR THE SUB”. In that
folder you will find a DVD movie: “Sweet 15”. It is a movie about a Mexican-American girl who is about
to turn 15. Students will watch the movie and answer some questions as they are watching it. You will
find the questions in the folder, but I will also attach them to this document. You will need to make
copies for all the students (94) before classes start. At the end of the class, students are to keep their
handouts so we can check their answers when I return.
LUNCH & PLAN PERIOD
8TH GRADE:
Students are working on a PPT presentation (professions in Spanish) in pairs. They can just continue
working on those. They will sit by their partners.
7th GRADE:
They are also working on PPTs (Spanish speaking countries) in pairs. They can also continue working on
their presentations. They will sit by their partners.
* Miss Schroder is a para and will help you with some of the 8th and 7th graders.
YOU WILL FIND THE QUESTIONS THAT YOU NEED TO PRINT FOR THE HIGH SCHOOLERS IN THE NEXT
PAGE.
Again, thank you so much for subbing for me. I will also attach the class rosters and seating charts.
If you need to contact me, I can be reached at 402 806 5654.
Thanks,
Monica Martinez.
