Soccer is a game divided into two, 45 minute halves. The objective of the game is to kick the ball
into the opponent’s net to score a goal. Each team is made up of 11 players. The modern game
of soccer was considered to be created in England around the mid-1800s. It was mainly played
private school at the time. During 1855, Associations football clubs formed and in1863 the
London Football Association was founded. The game was very popular and was dominated by
professional clubs. This lead to the creation English football league of the Football League in
1888. Soccer spread internationally in the 1870s; where it became popular in Europe. Spain,
Germany, Italy, France and other nation began to create their own teams and leagues in the early
20th century. Soccer was introduce to South America in the late 1800s. Soccer became an
Olympic sport in 1900. Later, the Fédération Internationale de Football Association or FIFA was
formed in 1904 to govern international competition. The World Cup was stated in 1930, which is
a tournament for international teams that only 24 out of 170+ may qualify for.
The source has many facts and details on the origin of soccer. This source has answered some of
the questions I am researching for. Questions I have asked for have been answered by this
source that my other source could not answer. This source is not biased it is objective. It is
meant to inform the reader of the topic of soccer. The information in the source seems to be very
accurate.
The information in this source has covered more than enough for my research topic. It has given
me the answer of where modern soccer was created. Also, the source is objective which is has
provided me with information that is not one sided. The origin of soccer made not be pinpointed
to the exact beginning as I would have hoped for. I may have to find another source for more
answers.

Soccer has been played in Egypt, Ancient China and Rome. The basic principles have gone
through the years and have went on to be played during medieval times. Balls made of linen that
date back to 2,500 were discovered in Egyptian tombs. Drawing from that time period show that
Egyptians played a soccer like game during feasts of fertility. Around 2,000 years after that
another soccer like game appeared in China. During 467 B.C. to 221 B.C. Cuju was played in
China, which was a sport to be roughly translated as “kick the ball with foot.” The objective of
the game was to score a goal though a piece of cloth hung between two poles. It became popular
between military leaders as a way to keep the soldiers physically fit. Then royal courts organized
matches. Teams of women and civilians also played in these matches. The number of players in
these royal court matches ranged from 12 to 16 on each team. Over time the game declined in
popularity. Around the same time as the Chinese played this game there was another game being
play by the Ancient Romans. This game was played by 27 players on each team. There were no
rules for this game and the only objective was to get the ball into the opposing team’s goal. It
was so popular it was a part of the early Olympics. Because there were no rules for this game,
many people got injured. Further down the line, The English were the ones to keep the soccer
tradition alive in the Middle Ages. In the mid-14th century it was called mob football. There were
no rules for this game and unlimited number of players. Later it would turn into the modern day
soccer.
This source is very useful in my research to find the origin of soccer. It has given me more
information to go by that my other source could not give me. I will use this source to add on to
the other one. The goal of this source is to inform the reader of soccer’s origin from the
beginning. It is an objective source and informative.
The Football bible has cover a great amount of information contributing to my topic. The last of
my questions were answered by this source. It has not changed my prospective on the research
topic. The football bible has given me much information to work with. I am set to finish my
research paper.
