I
would like to begin by thanking you for taking the time out to
view the materials I have included in my portfolio. I have
enclosed two revisions of essays on the black market to show my
involvement and understanding I have attained in English 2010.
This portfolio focuses mainly on, my English 2010, the class and how it has powerfully
improved my writing strategy and skills. During my time spent in this class I have absorbed
several things such as a new understanding of: how to take advantage document design,
putting together a proper profile, working effectively in a group setting, and over all becoming
an improved writer in certain situations.
As my class and I were taught a variety of design and writing skills, I furthered my
knowledge as well as gained new information that I use quite often, examples include:
Enriching my documents with a tasteful design in order to bring more life into the
paper for my audience.
Writing a problem solution paper helped me go into depth with my research, and bring
my own ideas to light in my documents.
Writing for various teachers requires different needs or aspects of style and I have
learned how to overcome them for the future.
Editing and utilizing peer response has crafted my writing in such a positive manner
that I now review and correct a paper with others and alone numerous times.
Every one of these necessary activities widely developed my ability to write more skillful joy
filled papers.

The modeled handouts encouraged me and others to write “A” papers as we were
able to catch a glimpse of how to write the way our teacher preferred and mold our writing
style into excellence.
The revised final problem solution document is what I believe shows the utmost attributes
that I have attained in English 2010. On page three you will find my revised version of a fellow
class mate’s document. I put a great deal of time into “breaking down” the entire document so
as to see how well or poor my class mate had performed in creating his document; I was then
able to revise it in a fair and open-minded manner.
I was able to finalize the conclusion that the document was good but need work, as I began
my research and filled the document with my own words I had created a whole new paper. As
I became to believe that it was difficult for me to utilize anything the before document had to
offer. In the end I had completed my revision examining it was in proper MLA format and
citation, and giving sources credit where it’s needed.
I believe that English 2010 is where I have acquired my knowledge and love for writing
and revision. I have now taken three semesters worth of English education classes all taught by
Carol Sieverts, she has inspired me to keep writing more efficiently and learn new things in
every document I develop whatever it may be.
The skills and traits I have acquired are pertinent to other college courses and outside life as
well. I will be applying these writing skills in everything I do throughout college, and I believe
it will strongly aid me to succeed in getting the degrees I desire.

Using these skills in class has already proven more than beneficial, Outside of the
class room for example; writing resumes or letters to my little brother Jesse whom recently
joined the Army, The endless possibilities in writing come from somewhere, for me it is English
2010.
As I look back to reflect on my time spent in school I peer into the past with great content, I
can feel confident with my writing, and can come forward and write this cover letter with
great enthusiasm knowing my readers will enjoy my new found vocabulary, writing skills,
document design, and grammar, among other things.
