Nick was always prepared with his readings for seminar PIQ’s. He was almost always the first to be
ready every time the PIQ’s were due. Nick is the best at asking probing questions at me and others for
the class. (MK)
Zach’s reliability and showing explinations of difficult problems was very helpful. Zach was always willing
to meet up and work on the readings as well as show initiative of choosing sections for presenting. (AG)
Arij was a fantastic partner. She was reliable, motivated and did excellent work on our project. She
helped guide our direction as we were flushing out the details of what we wanted to research. (CS)
Arij cares deeply about the subject matter of this class, and it shows in the amount of effort she puts
into the class. She was also always willing to step up to a task if needed. (RT)
Andrew Cannard is very quiet and extremely hard working. I think the most interesting thing about him is
his varied writing styles, when we are just communicating via emails his brevity is an understatement, but
when he actually writes his papers and responses his amazing ability comes thru. He is like that in
person as well, so it can be unsettling, he will not be saying much and then he just pops up with the most
insightful comment of the night/day. Andrew is a very dedicated worker and is always prepared and
usually early for meetings. (ABS)
Andrew C. was very reliable when it came to team homework. He always contributed good ideas to our
PIQs and Wolfson presentations. (RT)
Working with andrew on the research proposal was great because of his awesome ideas to tweak and
make things better. his reliability was always great and never late for meetings. (AG)
Alex is a very bright individual who had a lot to contribute to the research process. Although we
struggled with communication errors, he pulled his own weight in research and made a valuable
contribution to the team. (JParker)
Taylor cares about the subject matter, but I think she wants to tackle the problems from a [different]
vantage point ... She played a pivotal role in our research funding with her connections through the CEC.

Andrew Gonzales has been reliable about showing up to group meetings, his largest contributions have
been in creating the power point and helping design the micro hydro system. Andrew is not a
particularly strong writer or presenter so he had a smaller roll in writing the proposal and giving the
grant proposal presentation. (AC)
Andrew G: While he sometimes had pretty short and to-the-point PIQs, his input was always valuable.
He never missed a meeting and helped a lot with preparations for presenting ourb sections of the
Wolfson text. (ZB)
Candace has been a great presenter and always comes up with developed and relevant PIQs. She did a
lot of great work organizing the layout of our Labs for the Tabbutt text and hasn't missed many team
meetings. (ZB)
Candace was always willing to stay after or meet up earlier and we really worked well together. she
always contributed in helpful ways within the homework, piqs, or the research projects. (AG)
Candace is a pretty strong writer so she was very helpful in getting the foundation written for our final
essay. Candace was generally late to group meetings significantly due to the fact that she lives in
tacoma. She also had unexpected family commitments which made it impossible to have significant
contribution to our slidecast presentation. (AC)
I was happy with the quality of Michael’s work. He was relaible. (NA)
Jaal Mann was a very reliable teammate and always came prepared, ready to present our section in
Wolfson. We took turns speaking, and helped each other with ideas that were unclear. We worked
together to come up with the most interesting PIQs and discussed our findings before class. (TF)
I enjoyed working with Jaal, he is a genius and was the main writer for our research material. Luckily he
is good with his Mac, and power point, and we easily (he mostly) wrote the script and we recorded our
slide cast in about three hours time. I perhaps did most of the researching for algae information and
throw stuff at him, but he was able to make sense of it and present it exceedingly well. He was
prepared and completed work on or ahead of time when it needed to get done. (MK)
All of Spencer's contributions were excellent and it was a pleasure working with him. He challenged
himself and took our group work seriously. When there was something in the text that he didn't
understand we worked together to not only learn it ourselves, but to learn how to best present the
material to the class. (CS)
Spencer and I divided our work up equally, and I was happy with his contributions. I am glad to have
worked with Spencer and I think the project benifited from his input. He was a reliable teammate. (NA)
Overall, Buck Mettao has been an alright teammate, as he is always on time to our meetings, generally
comes prepared, and communicates well. One area he could improve on is the production of quality
work within the assigned time frame.
James Parker: A few times he wasn't ready when the team was ready to post PIQ’s and this would result
in late postings. Although I rarely seen him have notes he always had … the readings in his head and
could do his presentations of the material from his memory. (MK)
James Parker: I was happy with the quality of his contributions to our PIQ's, when he did them. When he
didn't do them, it would have been appreciated for him to have let Micheal and me know. (NA)
JP is a very level-headed guy who has a lot direction and useful knowledge from his many previous
professions. We struggled with communications now and again, but he also helped out when it counted.
He was able to help us move on from Auqaponics [sic] and focus our research on grey water filtration.

I enjoyed working with Clay if only to open up his world. He definitely has a world view, but thankfully is
willing to listen to ideas that test it. In class you can tell at times he is just waiting to strike with his list of
quotes and facts from his series of books. Talking to him, probing and pushing him to examine his ideas
and going deeper was interesting and one of my finest interactions of the quarter. Clay was always on-
time for our meetings and prepared. When we would meet we would do the big stuff (as in create our
broad ideas and themes of our project) and segment the work. I really enjoyed Clay’s capacity to write, it
made my job of editing our work easy. (ABS)
Clay had an awfully full schedule and sometimes missed class, but always showed up to team activities
on time with meticulous notes. Seriously, his notebooks are amazing. He's a very ambitious person, and
posed many big-picture questions as he tied multiple seminar readings together. Nicholas was an
awesome project partner. I'm not sure what's bigger--his growing knowledge base or his infectious
enthusiasm. He was completely reliable and always brought high-quality work. (SMH)
Reid Trevarthen was an excellent, vibrant, and dependable research partner. He was always willing to
pick up work, or help me understand his calculations. He made all aspects of the research fun. (TF)
Working with Reid on team Gridlocked was very interesting. He has a unique way of looking at things
and trying to give them a happy glow. I especially enjoyed working on the IPCC report in the later part of
the quarter with Reid our discussions on the Impacts sections we had were insightful and clarifying. Reid
was always on time and prepared with notes and a positive attitude. (ABS)
