Mitosis Phase Cards
Mitosis is a process that divides the nucleus of a cell in 2, for repair of an organism, or because the cell has
become too large. The process differs slightly, however, depending on if it is occurring in a plant or animal
cell
You will create 6 cards that will highlight each phase of the process. Use the text book to sketch your cells.
Color should be used to differentiate the different parts of the cell involved in the process. Your pictures
should fill the entire card with just enough room to properly label the parts and title.
Card 1 will contain a sketched and labeled picture of an animal cell in interphase on the front. The back will
contain a plant cell in interphase. I have included pictures on the posters for you to look at and reference.
Card 2 will be an animal cell in prophase on the front and a brief description of what happens in the process
on the back.
Card 3 will be an animal cell in metaphase on the front and a brief description of what happens in the
process on the back.
Card 4 will be an animal cell in anaphase on the front and a brief description of what happens in the process
on the back.
Card 5 will be an animal cell in telophase on the front and a brief description of what happens in the
process on the back.
Card 6 will highlight the differences in cytokinesis in a plant and animal cell. The front will have a animal cell
sketched and labeled in cytokinesis. The back will have a plant cell sketched and labeled in cytokinesis
When finished, answer the questions below:

2. During interphase, which of the following occurs:
A. Reproduction of DNA
B. Growth
C. Can be the big or small part

D. All of the above
3. DNA is replicated (copied) during what interphase step?
A. G1
C. G2
B. S
D. None of the above
4. Normal cell activities occur in:
