Weber School District Personal Narratives 2012-2013 Ms. Duke’s English Classes Football Player Jason Adame Well it’s time to tell the truth. I was born in 2000; I was in the football team which we were the red birds. I was number one because no body wanted to be it so I decided to be number one. The position I was a running back which I was good but I wanted to be was a safety. Why I didn’t like running back was because they threw it to me then out of no where a kid was coming full speed and he hit me hard into the in zone, but I scored the touchdown. But we still went to the championships which we were in an on fire then the other team we vs. was the blue jay which they were pretty good but we won by one point. One kid was good because one of are players fumble which we almost lost that game. But we recovered an interception which was my friend. My nick name was little Donald driver because I was fast as him. But better then Donald driver just kidding. My favorite player in the green bay packers is probably Brett Favre, arron Rodgers, and last but not least is claw Matthews. Claw is so beast he stills plays for the green bay packers. The best quarter back went to the Vikings but then he left football. But we still have Arron Rodgers the best quarter back right now. When I was five I went to a green bay packers game which they were vs. the chargers which the packers were 45 and the chargers were 12 and when it was halftime they were shooting balls and other kind of stuff which they threw a jersey which I got it. It was pretty awesome and we last year won the super bowl and is were the Steelers which I was bald. I was so happy we won the Steelers. The number one team is the green bay packers and the ravens. Then we vs. another team which they were pretty good but we still bet them by one point. I scored the last point which we won and the score was 12-13.The number one team was us which we won the other championships which we won only three championships because we were one of the best teams. The teams that were good were the buck, blue jays and, this other team called the cobras. The most difficult team was the blue jays, and the cobras. The teams that bet us was the jays, the cobras and, this other team which we lost by one point. When we won the three championships we all celebrated and went to go see a packers game vs. the chargers everybody that was in my team liked the green bay packers which the packers won by 4 touchdowns it was awesome because the score was 45-13 is was the coolest games I went to. In my memories the number one to I thought was good was the blue jays because they were fast and I knew most of them. Because they went to my school which was awesome and the team I didn’t like was the cobras because we lost because the coaches send out all the good players first then they were all tried then we lost by two points which it was not cool. But I got to an interception which was awesome and I recovered a fumble that the quarter let go. When I grow up I want to be in the all-stars players which I never meet one of the players in the green bay packers which someday I will. The player I want to meet is Aaron Rodgers, Donald driver; claw Matthews, Gregg Jennings, and the old beast quarter back Brett Favre. Because there all beast players and I wanted to meet other players back then. Will when I quit the team because we were moving so we celebrated a last day because I was leaving and it was in 4 of July so we but some much fireworks we were all glad which we invited everybody that went to are games which was awesome. It was awesome because we did them all in the same time which was awesome. Reflection Why I wanted to do this was because I wanted to tell about my story of football. Which are team was the best from all other teams that we vs. the second was the blue jays and then was the cobras. We won more championship. That Soccer incident by, Lorenzo Arevalo , I woke up around because I had an indoor soccer game at 10 or 11. So after I woke up my dad yelled ,”foods ready”.so then I rush into the kitchen to go eat, after I finish eating I go and start to ready for my soccer game. So after I’m done it’s around 9:30, then my dad yells again, “are you ready little monkey”. Then I said,”yea just let me put on my shin guards put on my shoes and get my water”.so then I got everything that I needed and we headed to my game. Then after we got to the soccer field we were early and had to wait. By that time everyone on my team had shown up in like 5 to ten minutes before the game. So then the coach said,” everyone in a circle now”. Then our coach started telling us where we were going to play on the field,” Lorenzo left side, Brian middle, Derek right and so on and so on.” After the game that we were waiting to end finally finished. After that all of our team and the other team got on the field and started to shoot. Then the buzzer rang to start our game. So then we started to play while our coach was yelling,” stop the ball, don’t let them shoot, start passing and play around with the ball a little”. But in second half that is when things started to get really bad. Our team was winning 2-1 so then they started to get really physical. The referee started to call so much fouls. He got tired of calling fouls he made the kid who was doing most of the big fouls to sit out for ten minutes. After that the team got even madder and started to play even rougher than they were before and the coach kept telling them, “calm down”. But that just enraged them ever more so they decided to take their anger out on me. So two of them got behind me while I was running and flipped me over. So I front flip like seven feet, and so I looked back and I heard them say,” Good job”. So from this experience I learned to keep trying. Keep doing what you love, you will get hurt sometimes, but that’s part of life. Also from that I learned to be more careful, and I’ve learned tricks to help me handle the ball and to be more careful during a soccer games. So I still play soccer but I remember that day i stopped doing what I love the most SOCCER!!!! When I Started Skateboarding By Levi Barlow It all started at one day when I saw the X games 11. I thought the guys competing were so cool. That is when I asked my dad. “Can I get one of those?” I said. “You really want a skateboard?” He said. Yeah” I said. He gave me the oddest look, because he never thought of me of much of the skater type. “ I will get you a skateboard if you actually try to skateboard as best as you can.” He said. “I promise I will try to do my best.” I said. A couple days went by, or it seemed it was actually a month, I kind of forgot about it. That next month I got my first skateboard. I was so happy about the skateboard I was so proud of it. I felt like I could do anything. The first day I skated I wasn’t good at all; all I could do was barely even roll on it. Then I would fall down and hurt my butt. I got back up every time and tried it again. My dad said, “ Your pretty good.” “Not really.” I said. “It’s your first day” He said. “I know but I still suck. “ I said. “ Your doing great” He said. That gave me confidence. The next couple days were pretty much me just rolling around and getting used to the feel of the skateboard. I landed my first Ollie when I was five years old. Can you imagine the happiness that I had when I landed that? It was like heaven on earth, because I was only five and it was the biggest accomplishment of my life. I put my heart and soul into that first Ollie; even though it was only about one inch off the ground I was still proud of myself. It was a beautiful day when I first took my worst fall yet. I was going pretty fast down a good sized hill, and I hit a pebble and my wheels got stuck on the pebble. I flew at least five feet going down the hill. I got so many scrapes I had one all the way down my back and on my knees. It felt like the worst burn on earth. Especially when we tried to clean the scrapes. I didn’t want to skate again after that fall and I didn’t skate for about six days. I was so nervous to try to go outside and skate again. That day I actually tried again I fell tons of times. These falls didn’t hurt though all I did was just fall on my butt and get back up. I thought skating got boring after that because I wasn’t very interested in it anymore. I only skated a little bit for the next five years. It was when I turned eleven years old when I got a new skateboard. I got into skating again. I could still Ollie when I got that board. I still skate today. Reflection: I learned tons of new stuff from skateboarding. It helped my social life a lot. Skating made me who I am today. I am a good skater now. How I pulled my arm By, Bryson Barnett I was at school playing football and I was the quarter back so we did a Hail Mary. I through the football over the fence so I said sorry to the people all of a sudden the bell rang RIIIIIING. We went to class and I talked to my teacher about what I did. She was not mad but she called my friend up to her desk Tommy please come to my desk. She talked to me and tommy about what I did. I said, “yes but it was an accident.” Is that true tommy,” yes.” I said,” I will ask my parents if I could buy you a new football.” Now both of you go to your desks and work on your assignment. School was almost over. Then the bell rang RIIIIIIIING. Yay School is over. I walked home happy. But I was worried what my mom would say. I said, “I’m home.” “Mom, can I ask you something?” “What is it?” can I borrow some money because I through my friends football over the fence. “Yes, but we have to talk to dad about that ok. So please go to your room until I call you for dinner .so I went to my room and played my video games. Then I heard my mom say Bryson, your dad is here. Ok. I opened my door and saw my dad making dinner and talking to my dad. My dad said “Bryson your mom and I were talking about what you did, we are going to have to ground you , and we are going to buy your friend a new whatever it was, so go to your room.” I said, “But can I have dinner before I go to my room? Yes you may. So we had dinner which was Steak with some Corn. It was good so I went to my room and time passed by. It was the next day. The birds were singing .and the sun was up. So I went to my closet to pick out some clothes I put on a stripped shirt and some pants on. I got out of my room and asked what was for breakfast. It was a Pop Tart I enjoyed eating it. It was time for my mom to take me to school. So my mom dropped me off at school. I said, ‘love you mom’. Just when she drove off to work I went to see if my friends were there they were their waiting for me to get over their. I said to my friend, how do you like your new football? I like it he said. Well it is so big; it was the only one they had. Ok. He said well I’m going to have to do something to you. What is it? Come over here and we will show you. Ok I am over here so we were talking about playing tug a war. So you get to have the strong people , then lets get started they asked who wanted to be the rope so I voted to be the rope so they pulled my arm out of my socket. So I went to the office called my mom and said I pulled my arm out of my socket THE END English My first broken bone By: Parker Bentley The Ride There Well I was going on a ride with my brother and my mom’s boyfriend’s son; we were going on a ride with our four wheelers. The ride there was amazing it was so beautiful it took my breath away. I loved it up until the sharp corner, when I was turning I crashed into the side of the mountain next to me. It happened so fast the pain didn’t start kicking in for about ten seconds then….. The Pain After I crashed about ten seconds later the pain started. At the first my whole left foot was numb but ten seconds later it started throbbing with pain it was the worst pain I have felt in years it was excruciating. But when I took off my shoe it was even more pain then when it started. When I saw my brother come around the corner, I was so relieved. Then my brother picked me up and put me back onto the four-wheeler. We started going back to camp. The Ride Back To Camp The ride back was terrible it was throbbing the whole way back. Every time I hit a bump it felt like the bone was rubbing against the other one it hurt so bad it was the worst pain I have ever felt. When I Got Back To Camp When I got back to camp I got off the four-wheeler and sat in a reclining chair. The bleeding was so bad it made me want to puke. Then we figured out it was bleeding from under the toenail and it looked like the toenail was going to come off. Then I took some acetaminophen to relive the pain. Then I waited in the car to start going back home. The Ride Home My toe didn’t hurt very badly on the way home because I had it elevated the whole way home. Whenever I put my foot my foot on the ground it started throbbing because all of the blood was going to it hurt. The doctor’s report The doctor said that my big toe and only my big toe was broken but I half to where a big huge cast on my foot just cause my big toe. They didn’t even tape it to my other toe how weird. THE END By: Parker Bentley My Dad’s Broken Foot.. By, Brainna Brady It was a nice sunny summer day, with a little breeze of wind. I knew it was going to be a good day for my father because he had a softball game to go to. He loved softball and he put so much effort into every move he made. I was kind of surprised when I found out he was on a team, because me dad is kind of chubby, and I couldn’t really picture him playing a sport. After the day of my boring summer, my dad got home and asked, “Who is all going to my game?, be ready in 20 minutes!” I thought to myself “Hmm, should I go?” I didn’t really want to go because I thought old people playing softball would be boring. After a few minutes my dad came out and asked, “Who is all coming?” I heard silence.. “Is nobody going?” I asked myself. I waited a minute and that was when I realized nobody was going. I could see the sadness in my dad’s eyes. I then sat up and said, “I guess I’ll go..” On the ride there we listened to music and I laughed while my dad tried to rap along with the radio. The ride felt like forever and I was bored out of my mind. A big smile appeared on my face when I saw the park. We were finally there, and the sooner the game started the sooner it would be over. The game started, I was sitting on the bleachers and my back was aching. I had been sitting there for about an hour when suddenly I noticed it was the third inning! It was almost over “finally” I thought to myself. I then noticed my dad was next to pitch. It was his last time pitching for the game so I decided to watch, “ Old people actually aren’t that bad at playing softball!” I thought to myself I watched my dad walk up to pitchers mound, I could see the dirt flutter in the air while he took each step. I watched furiously while the pitcher was getting ready to throw the ball. He then threw it right towards my dad and my dad swung the bat with all his might and the ball made a “clunk” sound and bounced far into the air. My dad threw the bat and ran. He kept running until he got to third base, then he decided to slide into it.. He didn’t get up, he just remained laying there. People ran towards him, when they noticed his ankle was broken. He sat out and I had to make tons of calls trying to get somebody to come and take him to the Emergency room. My mom finally made it out there and my dad got token care of (: I’m actually glad I went with my dad to his game because he would have been there alone with a broken ankle. I was there for when he needed me, and he is always there for me when I need him. I hope he plays softball next season, I will be sure to go to every game. Stetler Buttars September 13,2012 Grandpa Gary In 2010 my grandpa died it was really sad. We used to play basketball, baseball together. I used to go over there ones or twos a week to mow his lawn. And after that we would do stuff really fun.one of the things really fun we did was go to fat cats or to the movies we did real fun things. My grandpa has pretty cool neighbors I almost always hung out with them every time I went over there. But I see one of them because she goes to T.H. Bell she is pretty cool. The people that live across the street from my grandpa can do awesome moves on there jumps and stuff. And they have these really cool remote controls cars. I and my grandpa went four wheeling a lot. One of the funniest rides I have ever been on was in Clarkston. I still go there with my dirt bike and ride. My grandpa like always used to take me four wheeling. My grandpa is very awesome; we did a lot of very cool things together. We went to fat cats and played games, we went to a lot of movies, and dinner places and we just did a lot of things together. My grandpa has 3 brothers and 2 sisters, my grandpa’s brothers names are Mike, Steve, and Marty, and his sisters names are Ronda, and Kate. They are really cool people and they are really funny. They are just like my grandpa a little. They like baseball, and basket and basketball. They all like to go to the Raptors game I think. My grandpa favorite music to listen to is Maroon 5. He likes a lot of their old music old songs. I kind of lke them to but I like Eminem better. My favorite song by him is Till I Collapse. Me and my grandpa used to go and eat at McDonalds a lot. He always got a big mac there. They are really good but ever since he died I have any gone there 4 or 5 times. Some of the hardest things since he passed away is missing just him, and riding dirt bikes , and going over to his house going, to movies, and fat cats, and all the things we did together. Girls Camp By Chelsea Christensen This event took place in Mantua Utah, in Box elder county, Box elder campgrounds July 10th13 . The campground was surrounded by trees a natural spring in the middle, a fire pit, and if you went through to another clearing there was a rope swing. th Day 1 we started bright and early at 6:30 A.M. (well 6:30 doesn’t seem so early anymore). We got to hike up to our destination. A man named Nathan foster explained the basics to repelling (did you know a carabineer can hold up to 5,100 pounds?). A girl named Candice porter was first to go repelling, she was down in under a minute. Then another girl went, and another so on and so forth. Girls got to go repelling g (I didn’t) or make Para chord bracelets (I did) . After two and a half hours of this we finally left for the campsite, before we left another group came up. A man in the other group pointed out that the bush we were sitting near was poison ivy! (Luckily I didn’t sit over there) We finally got to the campsite I was assigned tent #2 along with Abbie Makin, Rachael Carlisle, and Harley Davis? (I could be wrong about her last name). I tried roasted starburst for the first time that night, not bad. Well the next day was reasonable 7:45 A.M. tent#2 was on breakfast duty (apparently I can make pancakes and they are edible). Once everyone was up and ready we got our swimsuits on and went to the Brigham City pool. After a few hours there we went back to camp. It was seven eleven day so we got slurpies on the way back. Later in the evening we got to hear a woman named Meg Johnson (motivational speaker) speak. She is confined to a wheel chair. At night we put on our rock star costumes and performed songs. Then we had an initiation ritual. Well first off we went on a nature hike(yay?) well after we got back we got to make our own ice cream (mine was more like vanilla slush) Later my dad and Heath gilberts put on an amazing rock concert! “That was awesome dad” I said “It was pretty fun to did someone record that?” he asked “I got it on my camcorder” called Abbie Makin Great” he replied The next morning we packed up camp and went home ( during this entire experience I was eaten alive by mosquitos it was horrible) What I learned was to be more out going, also that I am allergic to Mosquitos. It was a wonderful experience I can’t wait for next year How I learned to saddle a horse By, Sophia Cole “Hey dad can you teach me to saddle a horse?” said Sophia “Sure if you pull out the saddle I will pull out patina.” said Roy “Okay and I will pull out the bridle too so I can ride her once we are done.” “Instead I will pull out cricket since crickets less strong headed okay.” Roy said “As long as I get to ride after I’m done then its fine with me” said Sophia “Hey Sophia before I pull out cricket can you brush the stallions and give them treats please” “Okay.” said Sophia Sophia brushed the big horses and combed out their long manes. She gave them treats and told her dad she was done. Her dad pulled out cricket. Sophia was trying to find the right saddle and the bridle. When Roy got over there and tied the horse up she found the bridle and saddle and was barely bringing them out she put them on the bar so she could have both of her hands first was the saddle she threw it on to the horse and straightened it out she saw it was the wrong saddle so she went back into the tackle barn and found the right saddle. Then she said “I think I found the right one this time” luckily it was the right saddle. Roy said “This is how you do a saddle up you go through the lower loop then you reach the top and you pull through and go through the side and you go in the other side then you go between the rope and you pull down as hard as possible.” “I think I got the hang of it.” She messed up the first and second time but she got it the third fourth and the fifth time. Well I learned that it isn’t easy to do a saddle up that’s for sure it looks easy but it’s truly hard I still can’t do it sometimes Cheetoh by, Peyton Daily It all started when my mother wanted a new cat. She hoped another cat would make my cat Raider, happier. So she drove down to the pet store, the whole ride thinking about what kind of cat she wanted, a brown one, a black one, a young or an old one, a furry one or a hairless one… At the store, she looked at many discontent faced, meowing cats, all of them hoping to get chosen and taken to a home forever. She saw many cute ones, but when she looked into the yellow eyes of the small, puffy orange cat, she knew immediately he was the one. With his orange fur and innocent face, she knew the perfect name for him. “Cheetoh” she said, “Will be your name.” The whole way home, a rumbling purr came from the kitten as he rolled around in the back seat. A laugh slipped from my mom’s mouth as she watched the kitten prance to the front door and meow. She thought to herself, “This is the perfect cat.” She then opened the door, letting herself and Cheetoh into the house. “Awe,” Everyone cooed. “He’s adorable!” All of us said happily, as he pranced around playfully. “Go get Raider Sydnee,” said Drew, my oldest sister. “Okay,” she calmly replied, then skipped off to grab the cat from the basement, off in her own little world. At first, the two cats didn’t get along so well. But, as time passed, the cats grew a special bond. Soon enough, they were constantly side-by-side, eating, drinking, and doing everything together. Four years passed, and we were now living in a house across from Bonneville High School. Cheetoh was now a permanent part of the Daily family. He was a little retarded, though. He would walk down the hall and instead of turning, he would run into the wall and then meow and run away. He’d hiss at Sydnee’s Fur-Real-Friend cat, and then attempt to fight with it, staring into its plastic eyes, believing it was real. The day came when he needed to get introduced to the outdoors. The other two cats already loved it outside. “Cheetoh needs to learn how to survive outside. He is just so stupid.” My dad would say. My mom thought about this for a while. “You know, not a bad idea. We could just put food and water outside for him and keep him out a bit. And they did. Constantly, my siblings and I tried to convince them he would die out there. “You know it… He is retarded! He will die.” Yelled Drew, but they did listen. That night they put him outside along with a food and water bowl. I believed it was the last time I would see the fluffy cat. But I was wrong. I would see him again. He would just be a lot different. The next day, my family and I frantically searched for the big, puffy cat. But we never did find him that day. Tears dripped out of all our eyes. My sisters and I all sat on the couch together, heads in our hands, with tears rolling down our face then falling to the couch. The tears puffed our eyes and soaked our cheeks. It seemed we would never get over it. Late on night, about two weeks later, my parents sat on the back porch, just like any other regular night. Suddenly, a pair of glowing, yellow eyes shone in the darkness. “Look,” said my mother, “I think it’s Cheetoh!” Quickly, my mother ran into the kitchen to fetch some food and water for her cat. She hurried outside and attempted to get him to eat something, but he wouldn’t. He drank the water with a look of agony and distress on his scratched up, clumpy face. “Now eat, Cheetoh,” My mother seemed to plead for him to eat with a tear on the edge of spilling over her eye. She knew he was sick and probably hurt, but was certain that she could fix him. So she then wrapped him in a towel and went to bed. The next morning, we were all very eager to see our darling cat, but he wasn’t doing much better. We struggled to get him to eat solid food, so we tried tuna. He still would not eat. Soon enough, he even ceased to drink. All throughout the day, we tears literally spilling out of our red eyes, but we still sat with him all day, stroking his straggly fur with our shaky hands, so he would feel happy and loved. Later that night, my mother called my grandpa to take Cheetoh to the vet. By the time he arrived, it was too late. The cat had passed away, halfway underneath my sister’s bed, as he was trying to hide before he’d died. With tears cascading down my face, I tried to get over it. For weeks we were all so heartbroken over our cat’s death. Every night it seemed I could hear his hopeful meow, smell and feel his beautiful fur, and see those shining eyes. Still, I remember holding Cheetoh in my arms, bending my head over so he could claw at my hair. He would purr and rub his head against my ankles, and once I sat down, he would come and sit in my lap with me. And even though he is no longer with me, I know he still will live in my heart, forever. Now I have learned to never underestimate how stupid your pet actually is, and what he can’t do. Also, I learned how strong a bond can be between a human and an animal, and if an animal really loves you, then they will come back to you, as Cheetoh did. Now I can know when my cats are ill if I need to. Cheetoh taught me that he wasn’t really that dumb, or he would never have found his way home. UTaH By, Kobe Davis When I first found out it was in an all-star tournament for baseball. I remember we had just won a game and we were all happy, then my dad pulled me aside and said into my ear, “Hey, Kobe we might be moving to Utah.” I tried to act happy but what my dad had just said had ruined my whole day. That day I went home, my family and I discussed if we should move to Utah. I was nervous, “Alright,” my dad said, “ This is a discussion on if we are going to move.” Of course right away my little brother, Hunter, exclaims, “YES!” I really think he didn’t understand what moving meant. On the other hand my sister looked a little undecided after a minute of silence she mumbles, “It’s fine by me.” I was sitting on the other side of the couch every one of my family members were looking at me smiling as I say, “I’m not sure, I’ll tell you tomorrow.” Well it was the last day of school, I had to make my decision. After school that day my dad picked me and my sister up. “Have you decided,” whispered my dad. I said, “Yes, I think we should move.” He looked very pleased, I felt like I had made the right decision. So, later that day my dad had told me that we were moving to Utah in the middle of the summer. He also told me that the half of the summer was going to be the best half summer ever! So, as promised it was the best half summer ever! I was still doing all-stars so I got to see those friends every day for practice and then tournaments. It is now my last week in CaliforniaI had to try my hardest to have fun. The first nightI spent the night at my friend Matthew’s house. The other six days I either had baseball games or went to Disneyland and all six night I spent the night at my friend Kyle’s house. All in all I lived a great life in California. I learned that if you like or like living somewhere , do your best to have as much fun as you can while you still live there. I loved living in California, but I think I made the better choice on living here, what about you? Personal Narrative By: Kenzie Dwyer This is the story of the time I went Chicago and Indiana to visit my family. I go every year, but last year was especially fun. First, we took a 26 hour drive (which was not enjoyable.) but when we finally arrived we were greeted by my grandparents. “Welcome! Would you guys like some soda”, my Grandma said. “Of Course!” my brother I said in unison. We went inside to get our rooms and put our bags down. My grandparents live in a lake house just off the lake. So we can literally walk to the lake. They have to boats and two wave runners. “Get your suits on kids, we are going to Colorado Cove.”, my grandpa said. Colorado Cove isn’t really in Colorado, we just call it that, I’m not really sure why but we do. So all we really did was go swimming go on the boat, got on the wave runners and go out as a family. After 3 days of Indiana we took a three hour drive to Chicago. When we arrived, we stayed at my Dad’s parents’ house. We mainly did two things; hang out with my nine cousins on my Dads side. We went to this really good pizza place called Giordano’s and this other really good place called Portillo’s. We also went to this place called Brunswick it is kind of like a Toads or Boondocks. Our trip ended with a 24-hour ride home. When we finally got home it was like 4 in the morning. It was fun while it lasted, but I was ready to be home. My trip to Chicago and Indiana was so fun! I really enjoyed boating in Indiana and eating in Chicago. Even though it was a long drive there, it was worth every minute. My Dads twins’ brothers’ daughter and I are really close so I liked hanging out with her. In the end, Chicago was fun and hopefully soon everyone will come out here to visit us in Utah. THE END The day my brother was born. By: Jessica Ermer I stayed over at my friend’s house because my mom had to be at the hospital extremely early. “Good morning”, said Saydee. “Good morning”, I said back. “Lets go get ready for school”, said Saydee. About thirty minutes later we were in class. The day took forever to get by because I was so anxious. The end of the day took so long to get here. The school day was finally over. I was running across the park for my grandma to pick me up from school. When I got there, she wasn’t there yet! I was so excited! She finally pulled into the parking lot. I opened the door and she said. “ Hi Jessie.” “Hi, Grandma, do I have a new baby brother yet?” , I asked. “Not yet”, said my Grandma. We drove in the car for about three minutes to get back to my house. The day went by quick. It was dinner time already. We ordered Chili’s and went to pick it up. On our way home to my house from Chili’s my Grandma says. “Jessie, I got a text, you have a new baby brother. Do you want to see the picture?” A couple days passed and my mom came home with my new baby brother. I was so happy! I was so happy when my brother was born because I got to touch him and see his cute, little face. I was very excited for him and my mom to come home from the hospital. It was a great experience having a new baby in our family. I love him so much. He is my favorite sibling ever! THE END! THE TIME I SCARED MY GRANDMA BY ISACC FAZZIO This is the time I scared grandma. It was early September, I and my little brother and my dad had gone down to my grandma’s house. It’s a long 2 and a half hour drive. It took forever. Anthony (my little brother) asked “are we there yet”. Before my dad could answer. I snapped at him “do you see there house, do you hear jasmine”. “Gosh you don’t have to be such a freakin’ jerk about”. Said Anthony “Be quiet both of you or Ill turns the car around right now”. Yelled my dad. That shut us up. But I still heard Anthony mutter “butt-sniffer”. Anthony fell asleep; I stayed up and listened to the radio. It took 1 full whole hour. We finally arrived at there house. It was almost 10:30. Anthony was asleep. I screamed “wake up”. He responded naturally by screaming and then punching me for “scaring him”. He’s so sensitive. Went we inside my grandpa were watching a movie. I think it was called breaking bad or something kind of like that. Finally he noticed us. He said “hey kids how it is going”. “It’s going good grandpa.” “Do you kids want some food” said grandpa. “Yeah, sure” I said. So we waited for are grandma outside. It took a really long time. It was almost 10:45! But then in the distance I heard my grandma’s voice saying “so I heard Michael was coming up” then I heard my aunt’s voice. “I think their up hear right now”. I knew I couldn’t miss my chance I snuck down a long twisting and winding road down to my aunt’s house. I got top the steep road leading down there. I snuck down 3 4ths of the way crouched and hid. My grandma stared coming up the hill. But then I heard Jasmine (that’s my grandmas dog) she came up the hill. I held my breath hopping to not get noticed when Jasmine stared sniffing around. Then she sniffed me out she came over and started barking at me. My grandma came over saying. “What is it jas. Then I jumped out and scared her. She screamed super loud I ran up the hill laughing and laughing and laughing. That story is about how to scare grandmas. Old people are also scared of small animals like mice and fake rubbery lobsters and stuff like that. They also hate plastic hands. The end When I won 450 dollars It all started when I was given a paper about an art contest at Dinosaur Park. My teacher then encouraged me to enter in the contest. I thought about it for a long amount time. Then when there were only two days left I decided to enter. Then I sat down for two hours straight and tried to draw a dinosaur. I drew furiously trying to get every detail in I could in the smallest amount of time possible. Then the next day I was thinking how I could make it better. I then decided that it would be a good idea to boarder it. I went to the store bought all the utensils to boarder it and I did that as quickly as possible and raced to school Back at School When I got back at school my teacher loved the drawing. During lunch my teacher ran the drawing up to Dinosaur Park. I was barely able to eat because I was so nervous if she would get there in time or if something happened while she was heading over there. When she returned she told me she barely made it and got it in to the judges for the judging day. Then the worse part about it was waiting for them to tell me if I had won or if I had lost or gotten third or second place. I was so mad because I had spent so much time waiting for them to tell me anything about it. I was beginning to become very impatient with them. Then one day when I was all over it the judges showed up with a certificate and cookies for my class then they gave me one hundred dollars a certificate and two hundred fifty to Utah Idaho supplies and I gave that to my teacher so we can buy games. Later that Month With the money I had won I bought myself an Xbox 360 and five games. Then after thanksgiving break they called and told me they currently had my drawing up in a show room place and they wanted to buy it and they said they would pay me one hundred dollars so without thinking twice I said yes and then about a week later I received a check for one hundred dollars. Then not to long after I had made thank you cards to all the sponsors of the art contest and I spent all my money on different things. And that’s pretty much it. The End By, George Garcia Personal Narrative By, John Garcia First hunt It was the day before the hunt started and we were just getting up to the property and it was so beautiful. We started the fire and started roasting marshmallows. Oh they were so good I ate like five of them and my dad said “you better stop before you get sick.” And guess what? I sure was sick. I started puking everywhere. I was so sick so I went to sleep. I woke up to the sound of my alarm going off at 5:00 am so I got up and said “get up!” so everybody sure did get up especially my dad he jumped up as fast as ever. My dad said” get all your gear on so we can leave.” So I got my boots on and all of my orange and started to load my book bag. I put bananas and oranges and waters because I was gunna hike all day because I really wanted a deer. I grabbed my gun and all of my bullets and put them in the truck. We got in the truck and started driving to the “spot” when we got there I got out and loaded the clip to my gun and grabbed my book bag and left. Once we got tot the vantage point I sat down and started eating an apple. Then all of a sudden it looked like the whole mountain started moving and there were 20 deer sitting there but not one of them were a buck so I just sat there waiting. All of a sudden I hear movement behind me. I turned around and it was a doe and a fourpoint buck. I shot twice and the four-point dropped. The doe took off and spooked up an even bigger five-point buck. I couldn’t shoot it because I had already shot the four-point. I started gutting It it was so gross I wanted to puke. Skinning it was the easy part all you have to do is flip the knife upside down and go up the stomach dragging it back to the truck was the hard part. So I asked my dad “dad can you help me drag it back to the truck please.” When we got back to our camp I was so happy everybody was greeting me and telling me good job and talking pictures. It was the best hunt ever My trip to Nevada By, Kayleece gentry My trip to Nevada was to take my cousin home. My mom said,” we are going to grandmas to get her because owers would not make it.” we started going that night. My mom said,” we are going to stop in St. George and go in a hotel.” We went off. We kept listening to country the most the way there until my cousin said,” can we change the station.” My mom changed the station to rock. I was relieved we didn’t listen to country the whole way there. My baby brother started to sleep around half the way to St. George. He is so cute when he is asleep (also because he beats me up).after getting to St. George we were going to stay in a best western but they were filled. They told us to go to another hotel but I cannot remember the name of it. We stayed there and it was nice it was one room with a TV, a couch/bed, a bed, and a bathroom.it was a good room. It was so fun. It was my first time being in a hotel. In the morning we did not get up early enough to get the free hot breakfast. So we packed up and got in the car and left. We went through Arizona to get to Nevada. When we got to a town we stopped by my cosines dads work. He went in to say hi. His dad said, “When you get home the door should be unlocked. My cosine said,” ok.” We went to my mom’s dad’s house because we have not seen him for a wile. He was happy to see us. He has like 13 cats. They are so cute. 3 3 of the cats are baby’s. a little boy would trough them at his house or would trough them on his roof and watch them roll off. His wife saved them. After visiting them we went to my cosines house. When we got to his house. When you go to his house it looks like it is on the left side of the road but it is on the right. He has 5 palm trees in his front yard, in a row. When we dropped him off he did not look like he wanted to be there. I think he wanted to stay in Utah but his dad would go to prison. Reflections I picked this story because it was my first time being in Nevada. It was my first time being in Arizona. It was my first time I took my cousin home. It was my first time going to visit my grandpa instead of him visiting us. That’s why I picked this story. The Horrible Pinky Story By Kameren Hawkins When me and my family where coming home form they store and, we where getting out Of the car then I was the last one out of the car. Then when I was closing the car door I did not realize that my hand was in the car still and Mom said, “Kameren shut the door!” Well you have to say ok because she is my mom. “Ok mom” I said So I closed the car door, and my picky was smash I sow blood coming from the door , and my mom came outside. She opened the car door and there was blood eve ware in and out of the car. Then my mom was holding my pinky, and we went inside and she pout my pinky in the water. Then me and my mom went to the hospital and .the people handed me some peals my mom said It will help with the pain in my hand. Then me and my mom went to a little room they hade me sit in a little room. We sow the doctor come in the room he had a very big case he asked me to sit’in the chair. But it was not like any chair I have ever seen it it was like electric chair / a dentist chair with straps for your hands and, feet in. But I went in the little room and sat on the little chair my mom handed me a book . “gust read the book and don’t think about your hand” my mom said But when some one says to not think about some thing that is all that you can think about. Or you try not to think about it but you do. “Thanks mom” I said Then the doctor stared on my pinky I think my mom sow how much it heart me. “gust pout it on a butterfly rap on it” my mom ,said I was so glad that she said that. My Personal Narrative By: Madilyn Howard My personal narrative is going to be about when I got my dog. I was younger when it happened. But hopefully I can remember most of it. I hope you enjoy reading my personal narrative. One day my parents decided to let us get a dog. “Hurray for us” yelled me and my sister. So that night me, my mom, and my sister went to go the puppy. And we were getting a puppy so me and my sis were very exited so we were acting crazy!!!! My mother is very VERY bad at directions. Were super lucky if we can get to our destination if she is in front of the wheel. Well that night wasn’t one of those lucky days sadly. We had no idea where to go or what to do. We were LOST!!!!! Somehow luckily we found our way. When we got there my mother was so happy that we weren’t lost anymore. After my mom celebrated with her joy we went inside “WOW!!!” said me and my sister in amazement. We saw tens probably even hundreds of dogs but oddly they were in hampers. It was realy funny looking but the puppies inside of the hampers were sooooo cute! I just wanted to take all of the cute puppies home. The owner of the pet shop helped us find a puppy. “ So what type of dog are you looking for tonight.” The owner said. “ There are lots to choose from.” “Well no type in particular, just a dog that is nice.” Said my mom. And finally we found the cutest puppy for us. Now he is the best dog even thou he didn’t turn out to be nice. Reflection I hope you enjoyed reading my person narrative. I defiantly had a fun time writing and typing it. I remembered it lots more than I thought I would. Thanks for reading hope you liked reading learning about when I got my dog! My vacation to Hawaii! By, Nicholas Jensen The morning I left for Hawaii was the middle of flood season and my house was finding out my dad was going to stay home from one of the fun nest vacations you can go on as a family but luckily we had good neighbors that were able to stay at our house and protect it from water coming in. My dad was able to come with to come with us to Hawaii. The reason our house was flooding our sump pump (this white tube with water in it that would go up and down according to the water level)sprayed all over my dad’s books from when he was a kid, sleeping bags our heater and air conditioner. Most of my dads books got black mold and had to be thrown away. When we got to the airport, we were all almost jumping with joy. Part of the Carrigan side of the family was already there in Hawaii relaxing in the sun swimming in the ocean and in pools at the Ko Olina which means the happiest place on earth and I have to agree with that. But the other part was back here in Utah finishing the school year, so mainly all the kids in high school and younger. When we entered the plane everything was like it usually is a lot is quieter and squishier. But who cares we were going to Hawaii. When we landed on the island of Oahu it was hot and humid and hard to breathe. We rented a car and drove to the Ko Olina. It was around 5:00 P.M. so 9:00 here the sun was shining bright the trees were swaying rapidly the waves were lapping down on the grains of sand. And you could here people having the time of their lives. We found out where the rest of the family was and where their room was. We went there and ate dinner and then walked around the resort. After when we were done walking around I went into the room and got a passion fruit Hawaiian soda went out on the deck and drank I to the last drop with the sun beating on my face. We went to my family’s room and I walked out to the deck and looked out onto a pier and the new Pirates of the Caribbean ship was there in the pier because the A’aulani the new Disney resort was opening. But there was also a massive oil ship. The next day we went to BYU- Hawaii because my going to school there. She took us to Hukilau Beach for a second and let us look at the beach and play in the water that she’d taken so many pictures at. It was a really cool beach. Finally though she took us to a beach to body board and the beach was called Pounders beach and we played there and hung out there the rest of the day. The day after that we went to the Dole Plantation and saw a lot of cool pineapples that grew in the ground, and in the air and on a plant, some red, some orange. and ate dole whip. The day after we went to the P.C.C. and saw some of the Polynesian tribes such as Fiji, Tonga, Samoa, Aotearoa, also known as New Zealand, and Hawaii. And we had dinner and ate purple rolls with ham. The next day we went snorkeling at sharks cove and I went int the shallow water at first and saw something flapping then I stood up and realized it was a trapped sea turtle but you aren’t allowed to touch them so eventually it got out. I went out with a group of people and there was a bright yellow fish that looked like it was glowing above the water even. Until the end of the trip we stayed at the Ko Olina and played around at the beach. While in Hawaii I thought about how pretty it was and how relaxing it was too. I’m glad I was able to go on that trip with my whole family because it was one of the last trips I went on with my awesome uncle Mitch who died April 23. So it was a good trip to go on. Personal Narrative Dance Camp By: Hallie Jenson “Beep, beep, beep”. Its Friday July 13th 2012 3:00am. My plane leaves in the Salt Lake City airport in. 3 hours. But my eye lids seem to be glued shut! “Hallie, are you up yet? “That’s my mom yelling at me from the other room; I guess I better get up now. California awaits! I was sleeping until the pilot said “we’re now beginning our descent into Long Beach International airport”. That’s was pretty much the only sleep I would get for the next 3 days. “Welcome to dance camp U.S.A.. on the ground and give me 50”. Rachelle always starts our day with plenty of stretching and the famous U.S.A. Power abs. she was one of the best instructors I’ve ever had but the power abs make me want to die. I would spend the next to days doing drill downs, and learning 3 dances 2 of which I had to pick. I went to my dance teacher and asked her which 2 I should learn. She said “ Hallie I want you do the advanced lyrical and intermediate hip hop”. I said “are you sure I’m ready for that hip hop?” She responded “oh yes!” So first we started with our camp dance; the song was I’m glad you came.” Oh my gosh it was the hardest dance I have ever done”. But the dance wasn’t actually the hardest part. Kneeling on the scorching asphalt with peddles grinding into my knee left a lasting impression, literally. I was bursting with excitement to learn my next dance, the lyrical dance. Much to my surprise it was the last dance the hip hop one, ended up being the most import one. Savannah the hip hop choreographer came up to me on our last practice Sunday morning and said “Hallie you’re going to the first round of super sensational”. I was shocked to be selected in the 40 out of 250. I said “are you serious?” she replied “you better get ready”. In round one I had to preform the camp dance Jackie picked me to go to the second round. In the second round I had to learn and preform an across the floor in 5 minutes. Rachelle had picked me to be in the finale round, the top ten. I had to choreograph and preform a solo in front of the whole camp. I love to dance and I love to do things that make me better like going to ballet and tumbling. One of the cool thing I do to get better at dance is go to dance camp.it makes me a million times better! It gives me better technique and better style. I learned how to do drill downs and lots of other stuff. This was the best 3 days of my life! Stiches By, Allison Judkins “Come back her,” I yelled. I was chasing my friends little brother. Me and my friend we at her house entertaining a bunch of little kids. “Ok I am going back with Paige now,” I yelled to Paige’s little brother. Paige is my friend. I turned around and then started running across the street to the other side of the cul-de-sac. Next thing I know I was on the ground. I had a hole in my pants and my hands hurt. I finished walking over to Paige. “I think that I am going to call my mom and go home now,” I said after lifting up my pant leg and seeing my cut. “Oh owe,” Paige said with her hands cupped around her mouth. “Are you ok Alli?” Paige asked. All of the little kids were standing there with their mouths hanging open. “It doesn’t hurt as bad as it looks,” I said. I called my dad and he came and picked me up. He had to take me to the doctors. When we got there we waited in a room until the doctor came. “I am going to have to scrub it out so I need to numb you,” The doctor told me. “Ok,” I said. “Let’s go into the other room,” The doctor said. So we walked over to the room and I got into the chair. “This will be your lagoon ride of the day.” The doctor said raising the chair into the air. “Yeh,” I said sounding scared. “Well there might not be enough skin to give her stiches,” The doctor said. Then she put this big, long, needle in my leg to numb me. It made my knee got really, really big. “Ok now I am going to scrub it out,” The doctor said. “Oh I hope this doesn’t hurt,” I said. Then she scrubbed it. I couldn’t feel it or see it. But I could imagine it. I was so grossed out. “Well you need stiches,” She said. “Oh, I have always wanted stiches but now I don’t,” I said with my shaken voice. Well she had to give me five stitches. I could occasionally feel the needle pock me we it wasn’t numb. That I did not like so much. I learned that I shouldn’t run in the road something I have been taught my whole life. And that I really need to slow down. I also learned that we are lucky that we have the medicine that we do or else that would have hurt a lot worse than it did. But I do every thing way to fast no wonder I got hurt. So just remember no matter what age you are or how slow you think that your going DON’T RUN IN THE ROAD!!!!!!! R. I. P. By, Ben Lamont It all started when I woke up. We got a call from my grandma. My mother said “we will be right over.” She said then she said to me “grandpa die from a heart attack in his sleep. He was always a good grandpa to everyone. Every time I came over he had always had cokes in the little frig down stairs . I had nightmares for an entire year. I could barely sleep for an entire year as well. The rest of that school I wasn’t happy at all. My friend said “Why so glum Ben” I said “my grandpa died yesterday. He said “sorry that happened Ben.” I couldn’t smile laugh or do anything happy. I was temporary depressed you could say. Then a year later I finely got over it. Well I wasn’t completely over. I could finely smile once again. I am now happy once more. I’m still a little bit sad. But that is a okay. I am back to my old fun self and I’m very happy again. My grandpa is still to my heart. But I wish He could finish his story about when he was in WW2. I’m still wondering what happened. I’ll never know now, so I can still be one of the happiest people I know. I will never get depressed again. I am still happy as I’ve ever been and I can be invincible to sadness. I’m going to do anything that will keep my spirits up in the sky for my whole life. As long as nobody does anything to extremely make me sad or very angry I will be just fine. Besides there isn’t really anything to be sad about your whole life. I will not be sad for a very long time. I can’t just get mad over very little things my entire life. If anybody does they should get help with that. So everybody should try as hard as they can to live there life anger and sadness free. I have definitely learned to live everyday as it where your last day. I’ve also learned when a family member passes its ok to feel sad but don’t feel sad to long. It could mess up your whole life. Another lesson is you should try to be happy your life. If you are depressed you should get some very good help. “Summer” By: Saydee Larsen All the kids ran out of the door screaming in excitement!! You could see all the joy that filled there faces!! As soon as I walked out the back doors of the school all the excitement came and slapped right on to my face! All of the 6th graders were so excited to be sprayed by the fire truck at the Riverdale Fire Station! Our school was right next to the Fire Station. We ran down this hill so we could get to the church parking lot a lot faster! There was a 6 grade graduation party! As soon as we got there, there were games and candy. We had a lot of food to eat it was one of the best times of my life. th “Hey does everyone want to play kickball??” I said. “Yes!!” Yelled everyone!! So we all ran to the field to play kickball. As soon as we picked our teams we began the game. My team was first to kick. I didn’t want to be the first kicker but they all chose me. When they saw that I got a homerun the wanted me to kick for mostly everyone I didn’t kick for the boys just the girls it was so much fun!! When are game got over we went to have some more snacks and took some pictures and then some people did karaoke. “Hey Jess do you want sing with me??” I said. “No way I’m terrible!” says Jess. “Oh come on!” I said. “Oh fine!” says Jess. *Party Over* As the boring summer went on my mom decided we should go on a vacation to Bear Lake (the part in Idaho). My brother-in-law and I went on a four wheeler ride. It was so much fun because my two sisters were in the back on another four wheeler. They were so scared they would not stop screaming because they just kept hearing a bark!! Haha. They really hear a howl! We were on our way to the top of the mountain. It was a dark, dark night while we were up at the top of the mountain. We were on our way back down and then boom!!!!! We crashed the four wheeler flipped I fell my brother-in-law fell right on me then the four wheeler fell on Kevin (brother-in-law). I was okay but Kevin he messed up his shoulder. It was terrible. This summer has really been great especially with all the people I have seen over this summer it was amazing!!:) I had one of the best times of my life!! I love my life!! :) My Big Injury By, Ty Larsen Since I turned twelve in February, I have gotten soma big injuries. The huge injury was when I broke my collarbone. I was in 6th grade and it was time fore recess. I went out side and played football, and when there was about five more minutes of recess I was thrown to the ground. When I hit the ground, my shoulder started to hurt. If I moved my shoulder, it would be even more painful. Therefore, I sat there until recess was over. When recess was over I went inside and asked my teacher, “can I go to the office my shoulder really hurts.” She said, “yes.” Therefore I went to the office and told them about my shoulder. They told me to go sit down. So I sat down and they gave me an icepack. The principal came in and asked me,” what happened?” Therefore I told him what happened. When I was done telling him, he started to looking at my shoulder, He used to be a paramedic before so he did not think it was broken because is was no swelling but he was not sure so he called Roy Junior because that is where my mom teaches. They called her to see if she could come to the office. But she said no because she was teaching a class but they said that she needed to come to the office. So she ran down to the office and took the phone call and heard what happened to me. Therefore she called my grandpa to pick me up and take me to a doctor. So my grandpa came and took me to the doctor. The doctor said,” its broken and you might have surgery but since you are young you might not have surgery.” The doctor said that I can’t play soccer; I could not go outside for recess. I had to stay inside and not do any thing rough. The doctor said it would take three months to heal. So a month passed by and we went to the doctor. They took an x-ray of my collarbone and it was healed well and he said that I probably don’t have to have an x-ray if it continues to heal like it was then. While my collarbone was broken it felt like I was in a timeout, a really long timeout. At school, I could not go out side for recess but I could play on my IPod. Sometimes I would work on some of my homework so I could get it done. At home, I would sit and do my homework or video games. I was on an AYSO soccer league but since I could not play, I would go there and watch. When AYSO soccer league was over, I tried out for a comp team. I did the try outs for three days and I made the team. The try outs were difficult because my collarbone was not totally healed. After all of this, I decided not to play football ever again. I learned to be careful with my body. I’m going to stick with soccer. Moving By, Luke Laseure I’m going to tell you about one of the biggest things I remember about being a kid, moving 1500 miles across the United States of America from Utah to Wisconsin. The first part about moving was packing up, I put everything into boxes then I helped my mom move all my stuff into the van. Then we packed up my parent’s room, then the kitchen, then the living room, and bathroom. That took two whole days. After that we put our house on the market. We waited and waited and waited and finally a nice young couple bought our house. Two days later we went one our journey. It was so boring. We drove for 23 hours straight, found a apartment to live in, unpacked, then went back another 23 hours and stayed for a day and packed up again. Then we drove another 23 hours. Then finally unpacked for the last time and just hung out and sleep for a day. The apartment we got we stayed at for about 3 months. Then one of our neighbors tried to burn our building down but our building was all wet so he went to the building next to us and burnt it down and after that we got out of there and bought a new house in Washington terrace and the whole process started again except we only had to move 10 miles not 1500 miles Up to this day we still live in our house in Washington Terrace From this event, I’ve learned that it sucks to move all the way across the United States of America and that I never want to move anywhere ever again. That is what I remember most about being a kid in the United States. Arizona By, Katelyn Martindale The very first time I went to Arizona I was about six. My little sister MaKell and I were going to be sitting in the back of the car, meanwhile my brothers Zack, and Xavier would be sitting in the middle row of the van. I got pretty mad about that, but soon got over it. On our way my step mom decided to video tape all of us, “There’s Katie and MaKell cute as always, Zack and Xavier watching a movie, Jason driving and oh yeah and dork me!” she said. We all laughed and just got back to watching a movie, “Or in my case, playing cards with a 3 year old!” At first none of us kids knew where we were going until Zack said, “Mom where are we going?” she then replied, “We are going to go see Great Grandpa Knight, in Arizona where he lives!” I started to say stuff like, I haven’t seen him in years or I miss him so much. Then as night fell we all went to sleep in the van. The next day was the best because we were in Arizona, but of course it took us about three days to get there. Anyways, as we pulled up into our Great Grandpa Knight’s drive way he and his wife came outside. The four of us kids jumped out of the car and ran over to them giving them plenty of hugs! “Look how big you all have gotten.” They said. Later that night we had a big dinner and I was stuffed. After dinner we played games ate cake and also cooked some smores. They were delicious! After that it was time to watch a movie and go to bed. I got the big purple bed and MaKell got the yellow one. They were so comfortable. I had a great night sleep. In the morning we had breakfast and then started packing up to go home. When we got home, I was so glad to be there, even though it was nice to visit family in Arizona. I learned that going to visit family is always nice. Well because when family lives far away you won’t get to see them very often! My Birthday Surprise BY: Hannah McBride On March 30th 2011 it was my birthday and when I got my new puppy! Her name is Dazee. I said, “She is so cute.” Then at six pm I had a birthday party sleepover on my birthday. My brother had some of his friends over to but with them we still had so much fun when they were with us. On of my brothers friends played Just Dance 3 with us it was so funny to watch them play the game with us. We played so many games! My puppy had a triangle face. She was three months. Now she is eight months old. She is very playful every day. She is so fluffy. On my birthday we played Just Dance 3. We had a popcorn fight and we ate lots and lots of junk food that day it was so much fun. Dazee is a mix Schnauzer and Chihuahua and who knows what else. Born in one out of four. She has a curly Chihuahua tail. She has brown eyes like a Chihuahua. Short floppy ears like a Schnauzer. I like to take a lot of pictures of Dazee and Yogi. I love my little pup. She felt soft and she was so fluffy. On my birthday we had yummy pizza and soda. We made tie-die shirts. When we were playing around we had a popcorn fight. I have another dog named Yogi. My two dogs like to play so much they tackle each other. They are so funny when they play. When we first got Dazee she learned a lot from Yogi. It’s so cute. When they look out the window when we go to the store or something. She is so funny when she plays with Yogi. When Dazee is rowdy she bits me and tries to play with me that’s why she will bit me and lick my ears, nose. And forehead. Dazee takes Yogi’s toys all the time. When you say, “Dazee get your chewy.” Then she will go grab her bone or her toy. They like the stuffed animal snoopy. Yogi will eat a whole blanket! Dazee will chew on it. Yogi likes the snow, but I don’t know if Dazee likes snow. They both like to go camping. Dazee hates baths she will shake and be cold. We barely give Yogi Baths. We will give Dazee baths kind of a lot. They both hate baths. Yogi hates thunder storms. We went to the terrace day’s parade and when the fire trucks come by us and the noise scared Dazee and she howled and howled over and over again. She is so scared when big noise’s go off. I chose this one off of my timeline because I like my puppy and my birthday. It’s mostly about when and what we did when we got my puppy. I had like ten friends over that night on my birthday. Only five of them stay the night because it was a sleepover party to so that’s why I picked this one off of my timeline. The end ALASKA By, Jeffrey Montague I’m going to be writing about the time I took a trip to Alaska. The pilot came over the intercom and said “We are now entering Canadian airspace. That means about another hour or so and we’ll be descending in to Anchorage.” I remember thinking that some of the cities we were flying over were pretty small for being Canadian. An hour and a half later we were descending into Anchorage airport.as we were descending me and my mom saw a moose running alongside a river. Our eyes popped with awe as we pointed at it through the window. We knew that Alaska was teeming with wild life but not so close to a major city. Then our plane safely landed and we got off and claimed our baggage. Then we went to the pickup zone designated by my aunt Karen. Then we saw her pull up in her Subaru. We put our baggage in the back of the small somewhat lame car. Then we got in and she said “Welcome to Alaska!” then we began our forty mile trip to Girdwood, a small town outside of Anchorage. That was where my aunt lived. The drive was nice. On the right we were right up to the shore of the Pacific Ocean and on the left we were walled off by an almost ninety degree cliff. The cliff had mountain goat on it. The mountain goats had some serious parkour skills, it was mesmerizing. Once we got to Girdwood we met Jon my aunt’s boyfriend. “Hello how was the drive?” Jon said. “It was good.” I replied. “What’s the plan” asked my mom. “Well tomorrow we can up to the mine. Then on Wednesday my friend are throwing a party up in Chikaloo. On Thursday we can go to the glacier and Friday thru Sunday we have forest fair.” Said Aunt Karen. Tuesday came and we went to the mine where Karen worked. They gave us a lesson on how to pan for gold in the river. Let me tell you that was hard cold unrewarding work. We paned for an hour or so, then me and my mom got sick of it and went home. Then on Wednesday we went to that party in Chikaloo. Which must have been a four hour drive. Because we drove right into the heart of Alaska. Chikaloo was in a very small town that consisted of a general store and six houses. The party was on a property of twenty acres split up among three people. I met two new friends, named Barrow and Eve. There was actually a stage that was playing reggae. During that me and Barrow were chilling in the log fire hot tubs they had there. At 12:00 AM (which looked like 6:00 AM for the record) all of us just laid in these hamics and talked. We also went to porter glacier which was really cool. We went on this tour of it on a boat. They said that the water was 37 degrees farhanhight, so you wouldn’t want to swim in it or you’d get hypothermia. Now I want to talk about forest fair which was the best part of the trip. Forest fair is like one big famers market in Girdwood. My aunt sells hats at forest fair. Lots of people sell food and its good food. There are tons of stands all around the forest. They all sell amazing things. Lots of stands sell art. There was this one stand that sold statues made of metal tools, like he had pigs made of propane tanks and snails made out of nuts and bobby pins. But yea forest fair was just a huge 3 day party. What did I learn? I learned that Alaska is one of the most beautiful places on earth. Oh and I guess that my aunt Karen isn’t the horrible blood sucking creature she was when I was five. NOSE By Zak Moss The evening was cool and peaceful. The truck pulled up on the gravel. We step out onto out onto the hard rocks. There was a pool, water slide, hot tub and barrel racing. “ Hey you’re here,” yelled Pedro. Pedro is my mom and step dads’ friend. “Go play,” said my mom. The first thing I did was go straight to the pool. The water was refreshingly cool. I was having lots of fun until the barrel race. All the kids lined up at the back of the pasture. There’s the horn and we’re off. My sister hauls but down to the other end and got us in first place. We get down there and I hop out and I start to push. I go as fast as I could. Then out of the blue I hear my sister scream but it was to late the last place people hit us and I smack my nose in between the handles and flew back words about ten feet. My mom comes running on the field and carries me off. I sat on the ground for about an hour with ice on my nose so cold it hurt. After about another 30 minutes they let me go play. The second time I broke my nose I was at recess in 5th grade playing basketball and me and Ty Larson went to get the ball at the same time and he got and was coming back up while I was still going down and I smacked I nose on the back of his head. Red blood dripped from my nose I looked. “I think it’s broken,” said Nick. “Yeah I think it is.” “Wow what happened?” said my teacher. “I broke my nose on Ty’s head,” I said They took me down to nurse and had me wait for my parents. After my dad got there we went to insta care in North Ogden. Then he sent us to another doctor and then we went to Macadee hospital and then they fixed my nose. After that I learned never to play basketball with Ty again just not be close when he is going for the ball in any sport just kidding cause he is fun to hang out with. The first time I broke my nose to never drive with my sister because she blows my ear drums out of my head. And that I never want to go to a red neck festival again but it gave me lots of sympathy both times. Freeport Bahamas By, Maelan Pierce It was the evening of September 202012. My dads 40th We had been to dinner and when we came home, my mom excitedly said, “I have one more surprise for dad” She then put on the TV a DVD that she had made. We watched anxiously to see what the birthday surprise was. Pictures of cruise ships and the Bahamas were shown on the screen. I excitedly said, “Dad you’re getting a cruise for your birthday!” me and my older brother thought the cruise was just for our parents, but at the end of the movie it said the hole family was going!!! Two weeks later I found myself walking up the long gangway in sunny Cape Canaveral Florida getting on my first cruise! I said to my family, “I am so excited! I can’t wait” My brother said,” I know it is going to be so much fun!” We spent the first day cruising the deep blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean. The second day was my 11th birthday! I woke up and happily asked me mom, “Where are we spending the day?” My mom said,” we are spending the day at a resort in Freeport Bahamas” I couldn’t wait to spend my birthday on a white sand beach and playing in the ocean with my family. We had a great day! I got my hair braided 3 times, got a big conch shell and ate a HUGE piece of chocolate cake, and bought a fun T-shirt from a village shop. Definitely my most memorable birthday! We spent the rest of the week cruising to Nassau Bahamas and then we spent two fun filled days that included going to Atlantis waterpark! Which was sooo much fun! My favorite part at Atlantis was the waterslide that you go threw a tunnel of sharks!! To finish off this AMAZING trip we spent two days at the wonderful wizarding world of Harry Potter! It was so much fun! The reason I chose to write about this experience is because it was the trip I have EVER been on!! My favorite part was probably Atlantis, because I love water parks! This was by far the BEST birthday ever!! I would love to go on another cruise someday. I thought it was fun getting to open presents on my birthday on a cruise ship. Daniel Rhead English 4th Period September 9, 2012 Cannon Beach One of, my best memories is of a family vacation we took to Cannon Beach, Oregon. We stayed at a hotel where you could walk out the door and be right on the sand. We had a great view of Haystack rock the main attraction at Cannon Beach. When I stood on the balcony, I could smell the salty sea air and hear the waves pounding on the shore. We were also right next to a great restraint called, “Moe’s”, that I discovered had the beat hot chocolate I ever tasted. The first time I tried it, I knew I had to share it with my family because it was so creamy and chocolaty. It steamed throughout my mouth and made my taste buds tingle. Early, the first morning, I opened the drapes and stood out on the balcony of our hotel room. I was amazed to see that the Beach had vanished. We were completely covered in fog. It seemed as if I were blind! I couldn’t see the shoreline or the giant Haystack rock at all, even though I could still hear the sounds of the ocean. As I waited for my family to get ready for breakfast, I watched the screeching seagulls patiently hovering over the doorway to Moe’s. They were getting ready to bombard the tourists with their demands for leftover food. After breakfast, my brother sister and I headed out to the beach to look for seashells. The sand burned my feet if I stood in it to long, so I ran quickly to the water to cool them off. The wet sand oozed between my toes and soothed my scorched feet. Most of the shells I found were broken so I stared catching sand crabs and trapping them in a sand barrier that I made. It was fun to watch them escape through the sand and bury themselves below the water. My brother and I had fun playing in the ice cold water. It was so cold, it made my heart pound. It felt like it might come right out of my chest. We saw a jellyfish head wash up on the shore, which was cool. We poked it with a sharp stick and I was afraid I would be electrocuted if I touched it. To warm up, my brother thought it would be fun to bury me and my sister in the sand. He stared piling scoops of sand on top of our legs and bellies. It felt good to feel the weight of the sand on my body. It was then we decided to take a break and walk to Haystack Rock. We decided to race each other to the rock. We ran past people throwing Frisbees and playing fetch with their dogs. Some people were riding large yellow tricycles around the wet sand. I decided I was going to ask my mom to rent one for me when I got back to the hotel. It didn’t take us long to reach haystack Rock but the tide was high and we couldn’t explore the pools that we heard about, so we turned around to head back. It was then that my sister and I noticed a big problem. “I can’t run anymore. My legs and bottom are on fire!” I said to Scott. “Mine hurts to!” said Emily. “There are red dots all over my legs, and they itch!” I said “Let’s hurry back and tell mom!” said Scott. It was hard to walk back to the hotel. We had to waddle with our legs apart so they wouldn’t rub together. Once we got back, my mother took a look at our red dots and said we probably got sand fleas which hid in the sand that covered our bodies. I hurried to the hotel room to shower. It felt good to rinse the sand off in fresh water instead of salty sea water. It was several hours later before I could walk the right way again. At the end of our vacation, I just had to have one more cup of Moe’s hot chocolate. I decided to take it to the beach to drink and say goodbye to the ocean. My family bought some, too and we took pictures as we sipped our steaming drinks. I will never forget Cannon Beach. Reflection The reason I chose to write about Cannon Beach is because it’s one of my favorite places to go. I wish I could live there forever. I imagine myself running along the shore every day with my pet bulldog My Sister’s Wedding By: Mikai Ricketts Well…it all started here… My sister was on her way to the 4th day of work. At work, there was this guy named Corrie. He really likes my sister. Oh sorry, my sister’s name is Jessica but we call her Jess or Jessi. She is twenty-four and has one son Wyatt, he just turned four about 2 weeks ago. Anyways, Corrie likes Jessi and so he asked her out and she said “Yes!” Well, they really loved each other and they had a cute little baby boy and named him, Corver. Corver is the cutest little baby you will ever see. When Corver was born, he had to stay in the NICU, which is the Newborn Intensive Care Unit. It was very sad and he was very sick, but eventually he got better and he was out of the hospital in a few months! Jessi and Corrie loved each other very much and decided to get married. My mom said to me one day… “Guess what?!” I said, “What?!” She said, “Jessi and Corrie have decided to get married on the 7th of October!” I said, “Wow! That’s so awesome I am very excited and happy for them!” She said, “I know! Me too! I love them and care about them so much and I am very excited for this special thing! Jessi said she wants her color for her wedding to be cameo, as in black, green, and brown, but I told her, “ No, cameo for a wedding would be awful and would look horrible and ugly!’” I said, “Mom! That’s mean!” She said, “Well, she wanted my opinion so I gave it to her.” Jessi said “Since mom won’t let me do cameo for my wedding color, then I want my color to be cream and I want my theme to be a cowboy and cowgirl wedding. I want the girls to wear cream dresses and there cowgirl boots and the boys to wear tuxes with cowboy boots. I think that would be very cute! Don’t you think mom?” My mom said “Yes I think that would be way better than cameo! Cream and Cowboy stuff would be darling! I love it Jessi good thinking! So, Jessi is going to have a cowgirl and cowboy wedding, and we all think it is going to be so cute! One day, my grandma was printing out the invitations and putting them in envelopes. I said to my grandma, “Grandma what are those?” She said, “They are Jessi’s and Corrie’s wedding invitations.” I said, “Oh! Those are so cute! Can I see one please?” She said, “Sure.” She handed me one. It was so cute! It looked sort of like this… You’re Invited to a Hoedown-Showdown Wedding… Jessica Adams And Corrie Bright Have decided to get married! This very important event will happen on October7 2012. It will be held at Steve Adams house. We are going to ride horses and have tons of food! Please come and celebrate with us! I thought it was so cute! It was not exactly like that but pretty close. It had pictures of horses on it and it was all decorated. I am very happy and excited for Jessi and Corrie. We all love them both very much. I think the wedding will be great! I chose this event because it is my sisters wedding and that is very special to me! I get to be a bridesmaid! I only have one sister and this is my first time ever being a bridesmaid and hopefully the last. When my sister is happy, I am happy. I hope that my sister and her cute family is happy! My Favorite trip to Disneyland By: Adyson Rizzi “Beep, beep, beep, beep…” I jumped out of bed and got ready as fast as I could! We were going to Disneyland. But it wasn’t just any trip to Disneyland. I was going to dance on a stage there! We started the eight hour drive there good, but then we all woke up and it wasn’t as nice as it had been before. There was really nothing there to see on the way. “Ohhh. We’re finally here! I’m so tired though!” I said. My parents went in and got us checked into the hotel. Once we got in the room my brother said, “Well, we’re here. What do we do now?” “Let’s go to the beach,” my mom answered. We all started jumping up and down with excitement! So, we piled back into the car and drove to the beach. On the way to the beach we put dibs on who got what bed. We all ran out of the car and got in the ocean water. “Hey look! I’m a ninja!” said my little brother Tony. My whole family started laughing at him. He was jumping over the waves that started coming towards him. It was so funny! We went back to the hotel to go to bed because the next day would be full of fun! I’m pretty sure the next morning I woke up first because I was so excited! It felt like forever until we finally got up and ready. When we walked into Disneyland, my mom and I had to hurry to the pavilion to meet my dance team. When we were all there a lady came and got us. She took us back stage to the studio where our instructor was. She told us, “Have a great time! If you don’t, then you can’t dance tomorrow!” That really worried us! After we got done with the class we took a picture of our team. Then, after that we all went with our families and went on all the rides. The rides were so much fun! The next day everyone had the jitters! We would be dancing on the stage there! When we got to the dressing room, we started putting our costumes on. They were teal with diamonds. Our hip hop dance had a black tutu and a fishnet jacket. And for our jazz we had a matching teal skirt. There were also other studios there. They said, “Good luck! Have fun!” We went out to the park and got in the tunnel that took us to the stage. It felt like there were thousands of butterflies in my stomach! I was really nervous, but once I started dancing I had so much fun! I chose to write about this experience because it was so much fun! I got to hang out with family, ride all the rides, and dance. What could be better? I get to go dance there again in February next year! When I looked at my time line it really stood out to me because I got to do some really fun stuff that I got to do with my family. The Time I Broke Both of my Arms By Layla Rodriguez To day is 2012 and I remember back in 2002 when I was 2 years old. I really liked reselling and jumping off the couch, and there was a book shelf right by the arm of the couch. I fell back and my arm got caught on the book shelf. My mom said that my arm looked like an s shape. I was crying and crying and crying. They were trying to calm me down. When I was calmed down, they drove me to the doctor’s. They said that it was broken, and that they have to do surgery. They put two screws and two huge needles in my arm. We still have the two screws and needles. When my arm healed, my mom took the cast off, and when she did, I came crying and wanted her to put it back on. The doctor said put it back on, and to only take it off like 3 to 4 times a day, because I was so little that I got attached to it and that I didn’t fill securer with it off. When it was fully off, my brothers were being rude so I waked them both with my cast. I got in lots of trouble. Well I told you how I broke my right arm when I was 2. Now I will tell you about the time when I broke my left arm when I was 9. How I broke my arm when I was 9 years old, I was reselling on the couch with my brothers. I fell off the arm of the couch, I caught myself with my arms, but in the left arm I felt a huge crack. My mom didn’t believe me because she thought that I was faking it but I really wasn’t. So she made me wait 4 hole days. Then when she did take me to the doctors, they said that it was a bad fracture in my left elbow. My mom felt so bad. I was happy that I was right. They said that I didn’t need surgery. I was glad, I hate surgery. The next day I went to school every body kept asking and asking what happened. Then I started to get annoyed. Then I was walking with my friends and I fell backwards and hit my elbow and then I went home. THE END Broke My Arm By: Kennedi Roper When I was 7 years old I broke my right arm. It happened about 5 years ago was at recess and being a 2nd grader trying not to get stepped on by those 6th graders. So my friend and I were a sand castle and I said, “We should go on the monkey bars!” “Ok!” she said with a smile. So we did and I was like in my own world just swing and swing and swing. Then BOOM! My eyes flew opened and my head was in so much pain. Water dropped from my eyes and hit the ground. I looked at my arm it was gross and cool at the same time I was running so fast like a cheetah to the recess lady. She turned around and said, “Are you ok.” “NO!” I said in pain So we went to the front office and they wrapped it with masking tape and put a painting stick under the tape. A few moments later my Dad came and picked me up and went to drop Dustin off at my Grandma’s house. We went to the hospital and I had to wait a few minutes because my dad was checking me in. They X-rayed my arm and put a sling around it. When I got home and lied down on my parents bed a few hours later my sister came in and was crying so much. I felt bad. She said something trying not to cry “Are you ok can I get you anything.” “No I am ok but thanks so much.” I said. And on that day I kept looking at my arm, it looked like a worm moving short and squishy. On those days without school I watch the Little Mermaid, like 20 times. On my day of my surgery my Mom took a picture of me in my Scooby Doo pj dress and I was gone. I know it took an hour or so but it felt like 3 minutes. I woke up in a different room it felt like I was in a different world. “Mom” I said dead asleep. “Yes sweetie” she said in a soft voice. “Where’s my gram crackers and apple juice.” I said “I threw them away sorry.” She said in a sorry voice. I said, “ its fine” Then I fell back with my eyes closing one by one. I woke up and I was in a different room again. The doctor said,” lets go” So we went and the doctor wanted to talk to me “ Kennedi” Right then I was scared. “ Your right arm is fixed we put some rods in your arm.” Doctor said I sat there with my cute smile. On the way out they gave me a face marker and a stuffed animal and a water bottle. When I had my sling on it was hard to write because it was my right arm I broke. When I got my cast on it was green I wanted a glow in the dark but I couldn’t. my brother Dustin fell off the side of my parents bed and landed on my cast and scraped is forehead. When I got my cast off my arm felt air and I kept scratching it and it felt good. I felt like I was going to die when I broke my arm. I was in pain I only have 2 scares one on my elbow and the other near my wrist. A lot of people felt bad I was happy without my cast. What I learned from this was to be careful of what you do. I hated when I broke my arm. SAN DIEGO! By, Parker Sewell Once, I went to San Diego for 5 nights and 6 days. It was very exciting except for the 24 hour drive there and back. I hate to ride in the car. It wasn’t fun at all. After 12 long hours, we finally made it to the hotel was pretty nice. There was an odd smell but it was still fun. We went to Sea world and Lego-land. On our way to get dinner, the craziest thing happened. My dad got a flat tire! There was a 6 inch nail sticking right out of the side of his tire! So we couldn’t eat, we had to get a new tire. One of the funniest things was that when we went back to the hotel to ask where there was a tire store, they said “There is one about 10 miles south.” After a drive we found out there was a tire store right next to the hotel! I guess they didn’t know there was a tire store right there. So then we came back and they asked “Did you find it?” So my dad replied “There is one right there.” Then they said “Oh, good to know!” After that we went to dinner and went to bed knowing that we were going to Sea World! Sea World was the coolest place ever! I loved it! My favorite animal is a sea turtle so when I got to go see them all day it was really cool. I even got to touch them! They had a pond full of baby sea turtles and you could go look and touch them! We went to see Shamu and that was very cool also. I sat in the “Splash Zone” with my sister. I got really excited when the trainer came over the speakers and said “SPLASH ZONE, ARE YOU READY?” and at that moment, here came Shamu like a bolt of lightning, around the pool and soaking everyone! I’ve never gotten so wet in my life! All of the other exhibits were really cool to. I also loved to see the penguin show. It was a big group of penguins that were trained to do slides and stuff. It was a lot of fun to go and see! Two days later, we went to Lego-Land. It was very cool also. There was a very big Toy Story 3 place with the coolest Lego creation ever, a 10 foot tall replica of Rex! I asked a worker named Brian “How long did it take to make this?” he replies with “About 18 days from start to finish, with 6 workers!” I then asked “how many Legos?” he said “Nobody can count that high!” He was very nice to us. I also rode many roller coasters. They had so many I couldn’t ride all of them! The coolest thing was they all looked as if they were made of Legos! They had a really fast one that was very fun. They also had one that you could use a laser gun to beat you friends and family by hitting the targets! My trip to San Diego was very fun. Even after the flat tire! I think the worst park was when we had to leave. The weather was so good and the things we could do were endless. I wish I could stay there. The ocean was so beautiful and I loved all the nice people are the reason I wasn’t to stay there, and that is my family trip to San Diego. The terrible story of when I cracked my head open!! Michaela Shaw When I was little, me and my cousin Amber where swimming. I had on my little swimming suite on and my little life jacket on and my foodies on and Amber was wearing a t-shirt and short’s .We where swimming and we had a 6 feet ladder that led to a slide. I would climb up and Amber would climb up after me then I would go down then Amber would go down after me .we would do it over and over again. I got out first and I said Ammy Ammy I want to go on the slide again she said wait but I went anyway. Almost got to the top when I took one more step my feet so wet I slipped hitting my head on the ground, Amber got out of the pool picked me up and saying are you ok? Then seeing the blood dripping from my head and every one come running out of the house my mom calling 911 then me blacking out. Waking up in the ambulance remembering the scared look on my mom`s face scared. Arriving at the hospital being picked up and put on a stretcher me blacking out again waking up with at least 100 stitches in my head from one ear to the other. Ok so when woke up I saw one of those sprinkler things they put on the roof to put out fires I thought it was a spider and I said to my mom look mom look at the spider she said what spider the spider on the ceiling it`s guan get you it`s guan get you the spiders going to bite you she said that I was saying that because I was saying that I last to much blood and that I was seeing things. Amber said it was all her fault but in the end it was all mine and over time she was just happy I was still alive. That was the time that I cracked my head open from one ear to the other. The end.. my summer vacation By, Max Shivers This summer we did a lot of fun things. One of my favorite things we did was going to Orlando, Florida. I went with my Grandparents and my family. We went to a lot of fun places like Disney World, Cocoa Beach, and Dolphin Cove. Disney World was a lot of fun. One of the rides we went on was Space Mountain. On the ride we rode in a space car. At first it was all dark, then all of a sudden lights started flashing everywhere like eye illusions. Then it took off super fast. If you were to look up there would be stars everywhere. It felt like you were in space. Next we went to Blizzard Beach Waterpark. There was a slide called the Tobagon racers, with six slides. You would go down it on a mat and six people would race. Then we went on a slide that was really tall and steep. At the bottom of it, it looked like you were going to launch off a jump, but you just go straight through and under. We also went to Sea World. There was a ride there called The Manta. You would sit down in a chair, then once everyone was buckled you would drop forward so you are hanging by your stomach. It was the funnest ride I have ever been on. At Universal studios there were lots of rides. There was an area that was themed super heroes. We went on a ride called the Hulk. When we got on the ride it started to rain, it went fast and we also got hit in the face by the rain really hard. One of the last things we did was Cocoa Beach. We played on the beach. We played on the beach and got in the water with our boogie boards. The sand was really hot but not when our feet wee wet. Then we got to go pairasailing. It was really fun and we got high above the ocean. My florida vacation was one of my favorite trips. It was a busy trip and it rained a lot of the time. I’m glad I got to go. My Personal Narrative By, Rocio Solorio Once upon a time my family, I, and my friend had a sleep over named Monica. It was on my birthday March 1st, 2005 I was five. We were getting ready to go to Lagoon, but before that my mom said, “Rocio go clean your room to go to Lagoon.” Then I said, “Okay mom because I want to go to Lagoon.” I asked my friend Monica if she could help me and she said sure. After that we got ready and got in the car. When we got in the car Monica and me were so excited to go to Lagoon that we started yelling in the car. After my mom and dad got mad and said, “Please be quiet because you guys are driving us crazy.” We were sitting and sitting then we got bored and we kept asking, “are we there yet,” then when we said it again we got there. When we got there my mom and dad had to pay 8 dollars to park, so they paid and then went to the park. We got off the car and we walked to the front of Lagoon where it said tickets and my mom got all of our tickets out and gave them to the lady and she cut the bottom part of the ticket and she got a stamp and stamped our hands. When we got in we went on the swings then the small and big bumper cars. Then on the cliff hanger and those are all the rides I remember. We rode a lot of more rides. After we went home and got McDonald’s to eat. I learned that if anybody is getting ready to go to Lagoon it is hard work to get stuff ready. I choose to write about this is because it was fun. I will never forget it and because it means a lot to me because my family and one of my friends was there. It was also the best time of my life even if I did not get to ride some rides. My Best Friend’s Death By, Gabrielle Stofferahn Do you ever wonder why the people you love slip away from your finger tips? Please take my word for it, love the people and loved ones now, because later they will be gone forever. You may think that am going to talk to you about a person that died in my life, but you’re wrong. I am talking about my best friend, my family member, my cat, Sampson. He was more than a cat, that may sound crazy, but it is true. He was heroic, brave, soft, cuddly, and one of my best friends. He saved our blood from a deadly daddy mosquito. When we were all afraid, he stood up for us and fought our fears away. He ate the bugs and the nasty critters that made us squeal and run away in fright. He would also have a schedule for the night. He would first come into my room and sleep either beside my belly or on top of my pillow. When I’d fall into my nightly coma he would go down to my brother’s room and sleep on his bed until morning. He also was funny because he would throw up in the most random places. One night my brother fell asleep and Sampson threw up on Christian’s back!! When Christian woke up he didn’t want to move. Another spot that he threw up was smack dab on the TV remote. The funniest time that he threw up was all over my homework when I was in 5th grade, but one day the sickness got out of control. Christian woke up one morning and saw that Sampson had thrown up all over the basement and was still throwing up. I was with my mom at the time when Christian called her. “Hello,” my mother asked. There was some conversation on the other end. “Can we schedule it tomorrow?” There was more talking and then my mom said, “Okay, I am on my way.” She hung up the phone; I looked at her and said, “Who was that?” “That was your brother, he said, ‘We need to put Sampson down today.” We drove home and picked up Sampson, I went with my mom to the vet, but Christian stayed behind because he said he couldn’t handle it. The doctor came in and we explained everything, he listened diligently and then explained to us what he would do, and then got Sampson ready for the injection. As the doctor did this I just stroked Sampson’s head and whispered my goodbyes. The doctor held up the needle and asked, “Are we ready?” I nodded and the doctor injected the needle. At first nothing happened but as the medicine began to flow, Sampson’s head dropped and his eyes closed. The doctor picked up Sampson and carried him away and to this day I still haven’t recovered. Even as I write this story it is a struggle for me to hold back the tears. Watching your pet die is the worst feeling in the world. The pit in your stomach never goes away. He is gone but I will be able to see him again, but until then I will still love and miss him with all my heart. This experience was horrible, but I learned that even when they leave you they are still with you. It also thought me to love what you have now because one day, it will just take one shot, and your most favorite thing in the world will be gone. 2012 All-star Lacrosse Brady Thornock May 12, 2012. I found out my lacrosse coach wants me to be on the all-star lacrosse team. I’m so excited to play with the older kids, but I’m also worried. The older kids are more violent. The reason I’m playing with the older kids is because it is a U13 league so that meant the early 8th graders are on this team. It’s our first practice, I think it’ll be fun. All we are doing is drills. Our coach tells us “our first tournament is in 2 weeks.’’ 2 weeks later… It is time to play, we are playing a team we have never heard of before. I am starting at left attack for the Bonneville Lakers. On the faceoff, josh who plays for Bonneville, gets the ball, runs down the field, shoots and misses. The other team clears it up field and scores a goal. I’m thinking “uh oh.’’ But when josh gets the ball again he passes to Skyler (starting right attack) and he rips it at the net for our first goal. The won the faceoff but Jonah (on defense) gets it back. He clears it to me, and I make a move on the first defender run, fake a pass, than shoot and score. We went on to win that game 6-3. The next game we won 10-8. And then we won the next. It is championships now and we are playing a team we lost to 2- 6. We lost the faceoff and they score right off the bat. Then the same thing happens again. To make a long story short they beat us badly. Tournament #2 Our first game, we won 8-2. The second game we win 5-0. They forfeited before halftime. The next game we won 7-4. Championships. At the start of the game the score, 0-1 already. Than Skyler hits a shot. 1-1. After, he tries again but it bounces off the goalies foot, I caught it, shot and scored. The rest of the game we don’t score again, and lose to come in second place, wich is a great score, because these teams come from all over the west of our country. Reflection What I got out of this is fun and I also learned to be a better lacrosse player. I had a good time and I hope I make it on the all-star team again with even older kids. My first big competition Targee Tomisin 9/14/2012 I am in a snowboard competition at Powder Mountain. It is a nation wide competition. I am about to hit a fifty foot jump doing a backflip 360 and that’s called a cork. I start to go and I go and fly off the jump I feel like I am flying and do the cork and land a little off I raise my hand in the air. I take off my snowboard and starts walking up the hill. I go to look at what the judges gave me as my score. One of the judges gave me an 8.5 the other said I got a 9.0 and the last one gave me an 8.0. Then I see some guy name Fred start to go and they do a backflip and land it really good the judges said that he gets a 10.0 from two of the judges the third gave him a 9.5 I got mad and threw my snowboard and had to go get it. So I get ready at the top of the hill ready to go again and I see someone start to go they do a backflip and land it all weird all the judges gave him an 8.5 I was happy. I started to go and I do a backflip I want it a little of but not much two of the judges gave me a 9.5 the other gave me a 10.0. I got up on the podium and they give me a free snowboard I get second place I was so happy. I go down the hill for my victory run and did a cork and landed on my arm and broke it. The ski patrol had to take me down the mountain on a stretcher and my friends parents took me to the hospital and when my parents go there they ask what happened and I told them that I took second place in the competition and when I when for my victory run I broke my arm The End Big Time Rush Concert By:Jannely Urrutia On July.25.12 like around 9:00 I woke up and came to the kitchen and got my breakfast and ate. After I was done eating I went to go brush my teeth when I was done brushing my teeth, I went and started doing my chores like usual. And like around 10:00 they finally woke up and I mean like the whole family woke up. So then they came to the kitchen and they said” Good Morning. Then I said” Good Morning to you to. So then after we said Good Morning my family started eating breakfast and I was just sitting there doing nothing waiting for them to finish eating because I was done with all my chores. Later, that day like around 12:00 my family started doing there a chores around the house everyone was going back and forth and it was so crazy around the house. So they kept cleaning until they were finally done they sat down and cooled off. After those hours passed and like around 3:00 my aunt called and my mom picked up the phone and she said “Hello Who Is This? My aunt replied “its me Angelica Jannely’s Aunt. Then they kept talking .and then my aunt said “Can Jannely come to the concert with Jailene Then my Mom said “Yes she can go I’ll tell her. Then my aunt said were picking her up at 5:00 Ok Bye. After my mom was done talking she told me and I got ready took a shower did my hair then I was finally finished then I went to my living room to watch a movie and it was called The Three Investigators It’s a good movie so I watched it and then like around 4:30 they came and picked me up so I said “Bye. Then my family said “Bye have fun. After that I left and I got in the car and we started driving. So we were in the car and we were heading to Salt Lake City for the concert we drove and drove and we finally got to the place where the concert was going to be held.so we got off and Me My Cousin Jailene and my other cousin Stephany.and we started walking to the entrance so they can scan our tickets THE TIME I LEAVE CALIFORNA By, Zachary Vantassell One bright and shiny day I woke up and I was called by friend traft and he told me, “Today is your last day in California.” He said “let’s hang all day.” I said,” yes.” So we hang out at the park and the school and the fair so at the fair we went to get a gift for good bye then he said, “let hang out at my house.” We played all night in his backyard and his games and his dogs then we ask if I can stay the night his mom and dad said yes. The next day me and traft were up set that we might not be able to see each other but I said that I will see them all again . The time I was on the road we stop 15 times and when we stop at a sinecure gas station and when we stop I looked at my dog abbey and when I looked at her she was gone so when we stopped at the gas station we were all sad that she was go so we put her in a cooler and got some ice and put the ice in the cooler then it took us five hours to get to Utah. So when we got to Utah it took us two hours to get to my grandma and grandpas house and we got there we grabbed Abbey and we put her in the back yard under my grandpas tree and every time I go to my grandmas house I go to the backyard to the tree and wish she would come back show I can see her one lasted time. So the next day I woke up in a new house and a new state but I wish I was still in California and the next day I was going to a new school. When I went outside from my grandmas house. My mom wasn’t there she was looking for a house and a job. My uncle came out and he said “hey Zach how you doing.” I said I’m doing fine.” Then he said he will take me to see his neighbors and when I met them they were so nice they said that they would take me to school and I played games with there daughter and son and we had so much fun. I was still upset that I left California but I think I would be able to make so good friends and have a good time. So the next day I went to the neighbors and there daughter said. “Are you ready to go to school Zach?” I said “I’m ready but I am a little nerves and I hope I will make some friends.” So we got in to there truck and we went to my new school Marlon and when we got there we went In and I was nerves to talk to anyone then I was introduce to my new class I met a kid name Kobe I said. “Hi my name is Zach and your name.” he said. “My name is Kobe it’s nice to met you Zach your first time here.” I said. “Yes” then we hangout at recess and at school and after school. When I got home I told my mom I met a new friend named Kobe. She said. “That’s good what he like is.” I said. “He was a good kid he likes to play basketball and he likes to play video games and he like to hang out with friends.” The next day I went to school with the neighbors help again. When I got to school I saw Kobe and he introduces me to his friend max. Max was a good kid he told me that he was able to talk Spanish. I said. “That’s cool can you tech me.” He said. “I can’t it would take me to long to tech you.” I said. “ok then do you want to hang out after school with me and Kobe.” He said that it would be nice to hang out see us after school then.” Our hearts pounded, we moved around restlessly. This was our first soccer game ever. The anticipation was killing me, I absent mindedly played with a ball at my feet, fantasizing being the best player on the field. We didn’t know it, but at the time we all looked rather silly, in our heavy wool knee socks and our oversized jerseys. So, this is our first soccer game of the first season in AYSO. Our jerseys were green, and the ‘enemy’, as I thought of them at the time, were in blue. The position whistle blew, our small team of three walked on the field (we were like four so it was a tiny field with tiny kids). We started with ball, the overly serious parents shouting things we didn’t understand like ‘mark up!’ or ‘shoot!’. My mom uselessly trying to direct me on the field, my friends parents shouting encouragements. I guess they didn’t understand that they weren’t supposed to take it seriously. We made goals, got scored on. I don’t remember who won, though. I walked off the field thinking it was the coolest thing ever, but we didn’t really play soccer. We Just kind of followed the ball. I didn’t know it at the time, but this one game would have a huge affect on my life. I played in AYSO for three more years. More people came and went, teams getting better as more kids could be put on the field. Then I got my big break. My mother found a soccer club named Laroca. I don’t remember if I had to try out or anything, but I got on the team. My coach was named David. The season started soon after that. I’ve got too many memories to type on this paper, but it was a good year. The next year at tryouts, there was a different coach for us, Andres. He was a friend of the clubs owner, who was short on coaches. Again, too many memories. Two years later we got another coach, Eduardo. He was an average coach, tried to teach things and whatnot. But, again a new coach…… but this one is the best coach I got in Laroca (no offence guys). He taught us real things, got us into shape. But, unfortunately, his job took him to north Carolina. Then a guy named Nate became the coach. I don’t think he was very serious about it, though. That was last year. Little soon did I know… I was going to leave my friends at Laroca very, very soon. My family was in cedar city for, surprise, surprise, soccer. My current coach, Eric, called my mom while we were down there. He wanted me to play for him. You have to understand, this team was better than the one I was on at the time. But, I had been with Laroca for years. It took a lot of thinking, but I decided to switch teams. Now I am on a wildcat premier team, and it’s the best team I’ve ever been on. By: Konnery Cage Vigil Concussion 2011 BY: Jax Weaver My most memorable thing that happened to me in my life was when I got a concussion. I am writing about my concussion because I hardly remember it that is what a concussion is. I am also writing about it because it will stick with me all of my life. I don’t like knowing that I had a concussion because now I don’t know what happened and I cant ride my bike or any thing with out having to have a helmet on, and I don’t like my helmet at all it makes me look goofy. The date was august 13 2011. All I remember was going to work with my family and filling up a water jug and then I don’t remember any thing after that. But when I “woke up” I was sitting on the couch and my mom was pointing at my brother and asked me “who’s that” ‘”Jace?” I replayed’. My mom asked me that because I didn’t know any thing while I was “out”. I missed my first football game of the year as quarter back because of my concussion. The way I feel about my concussion is that I really don’t like knowing that I had one. Now I can’t do any thing wit bout having all the proper equipment I can’t even ride my scooter wit out my mom being worried that I might break an arm or head. I feel like I can’t do as many things as I could as before. I get scared when I see people hitting heads if football or in any sport because I am afraid they will get a concussion. I am also scared to hit kids that are bigger then me and stronger then, because if I get two more concussions then I wont be able to play any sports. When I First Started Football BY: Kyler Wilson When I first started football, I was in 4th grade. I didn’t really like football back then because, all I ever did was sit on the bench. For the whole entire year I sat on the bench, until finally after 7 games of sitting there I got to play. It was Octoberfest of 2009 I was sitting on the bench like usual and then my coach came up to me and he said “Have you ever caught a football?” I was shocked by the comment. I replied. “Umm.. uh, yea?” Then he said. “Well then get out there and play!” I ran out on to the field feeling felled with joy and excitement, but at the same time felt nervous with butterfly’s in my stomach I went into the huddle. Then they called a pass play my side. We broke the huddle and lined up in our positions “Down--- Set---- hut!” Then the play started. I ran my route, which conveniently was my favorite route at the time. I was running a ten and across the middle route, otherwise known as a ten and in. I ran thinking that the quarter back would never pass the ball to a rookie. But sure enough he did, He released the ball and when he did it almost seemed as if the throw was in slow motion I tried to have good concentration on the ball in order to catch it right as soon as the quarter back released the ball he got smashed by a defensive end. I put my hands down almost touching the ground. I grabbed the ball right before it hit the ground It was a pretty low pass but I don’t blame the quarter back because he was under pressure with the defensive end rushing him. I caught the ball and ran I ran as fast as I could and then I heard “You’re ok now you can stop running.” As you know it was my first time playing football so I didn’t know where the end zone even was. I had ran about 10 yards too far. I was super embarrassed, but I was also filled with joy. I learned that If you set your mind to something and you want it really bad, you can achieve it with just a little practice and a little bit of luck.
