How does McDonalds present itself
with marketing across the world?
With more than 35,000 franchises worldwide McDonalds
shows adaption to cultures and the characteristics of a fastfood restaurant. McDonalds is gaining attention in different
aspects such as culture. McDonalds principles are coming to
dominate more and more sectors of American society as well
as of the rest of the world, as are many other fast-food
restraunts. In the current period, most countries have
adapted to this concept because of globalization.

History
1967 - The first McDonald's restaurant outside
the United States opened in Richmond, British
Columbia.
1976 - McDonald's changed the eating habits
of Canadians with the introduction of its
breakfast menu.
McDonalds uses breakfast
to market their food to
morning people who miss
breakfast and come for a
coffee and as bite.
1994 - In March, McDonald's
announced that all of its
company-owned stores
would become smoke-free.
1994 - McDonald's signed an
agreement with Wal-Mart Canada to
open restaurants in the retailer's
outlets across Canada.

Wal-Mart to make them want
something to have while shopping
or after right in the shopping

1997 - The McFlurry was invented here in
Canada and is now sold around the world.

2003 - McDonald's re-invents a
breakfast called the McGriddle

Lifestyles Initiative – a national consumer
wellness campaign aimed at Canadians of all

consumer education and the promotion of
physical activity.
2008 - McDonald's Canada successfully
completes transition to a trans fat-free
Canola Oil Blend cooking oil.

2011 - McDonald's perks up coffee lovers across Canada
with the launch of McCafé® espresso-based coffee drinks,
including lattes, cappuccinos and mochas.
Competition with Tim Horton's
and Starbucks is created when the
McCafe is created and espresso

2012 - McDonald’s Canada introduces Real
Fruit Smoothies. Blended with real fruit
purée, ice and yogurt, they quickly become
one of our all-time most popular and
deliciously refreshing new product launches.

not too long ago.

Marketing To The Kids
The invention of the happy meal and helped to
secure McDonald’s as THE family restaurant and
target the little ones. As children are guided by
what’s fun and exciting rather than nutritional
value and health, the Happy Meal holds every
child’s fascination with a toy and what they want
to pick from as good tasting food.
Marketing To The Athletes
McDonald’s ties in some of the most well known
sporting personalities around the world. NBA
superstar LeBron James has signed a multi-year
sponsorship deal with McDonald’s. The message it
sends to people and kids is “Eat McDonald’s and you
too can become a basketball superstar?” McDonald’s
sponsors other top athletes like Serena Williams and
Michael Phelps who only help to give the perception
that a diet high in Fat and sugar is beneficial to
maintaining high levels of athletic excellence, and to
fuel your body.
McCafe Attractions
McCafe attracts people to the calm delicate vibe you get from it
bringing you in and making you want to stay and eat at the restraunt
instead of leaving, you will be spending more money. If the restraunt
is a nice place that makes you want to stay and sit down, customers
will do so. Just kike in cafes where people stay and mingle, McDonalds
tries to attract the people to the café look.
McDonald's Location Sellers
The location of a McDonald’s restaurants is not
coincidental. McDonalds goes, where the kids
go. Shopping malls, main streets, entertainment
complexes and of course their main location,
near schools. They a plane to spot good
locations for McDonald’s stores by flying over a
community and looking for schools. And other
targets.
Location, Location, Location!
How has McDonalds used created a
socially responsible image?
McDonalds has created a socially responsible image all
around the globe, McDonald's is putting people,
processes and practices into place to make better food,
more sustainable sourcing, happier people, a stronger
community and a healthier planet. Environmental
stewardship is not new to McDonald’s, but with the
launch of our CSR & Sustainability Framework, our Planet
strategy is more focused than ever.

I believe that McDonalds markets their products pretty well by saying
its “healthy” and its good to hear that they went for a healthier turn
but, they aren't actually a healthy restraunt. Their salads, smoothies,
and wraps are a good choice but still all the other food most people
purchase such as burgers and such that aren’t healthy for you.
Marketing their products with sports is not a very good idea because
after you play sports you shouldn't be fueling your body up with their
grease. I appreciated learning about what they do to give back to the
environment and children with donating and being eco-friendly, as well
as the charities they have to support children and other countries.
