Psychotic Disorders We see changes in psychosis when we see changes in thinking, behavior, and emotions. Delusional Thinking Disturbed Emotions/ Communication Hallucinations and Sensations Personality Disintegration, lack of thought coordination Delusional Thinking People who suffer from delusions hold false beliefs that they keep insisting are true. People think they are being controlled Believe body is rotting away Depressive Delusions Somatic Delusions Grandeur delusions Delusions of influence People believe they did something horrible Think you are extremely important Hallucinations and Sensations These are imaginary sensations, such as seeing, hearing, or smelling things that simply don’t exist. Can get violent when people obey their hallucinations Disturbed Emotions and Communication We see people with emotions that may swing violently between extremes. Or flat affect, showing no signs of emotion. We see communication symptoms to be when people can use only their actions to communicate. Personality Disintegration This is a break with reality brought on by the previously mentioned disordered. We see a person’s thoughts, actions, and emotions no longer coordinate. Disorder Research We are going to take the remainder of the block today to do some research of a disorder that you find particularly interesting.
