Post University EDU 633 Module 1 Robert Hixon Recommendation for a Learning Content Management System LCMS LMS is the framework that handles all ( ALL ) aspects of the learning process. An LMS is the infrastructure that delivers and manages instructional content, identifies and assesses individual and organizational learning or training goals. Tracks the progress towards meeting those goals Collects and presents data for supervising the learning process of the organization as a whole An LMS should be able to do the following: centralize and automate administration use self-service and self-guided services assemble and deliver learning content Rapidly consolidate training initiatives on a scalable web based platform support portability and standards personalize content and enable knowledge reuse An LMS is not used to create course content. By contrast, a learning content management system ( LCMS) is a related software technology that provides a multi-user environment where developers, instructional designers and subject matter experts may create, store, reuse, manage and deliver digital educational technology The key difference between an LMS and an LCMS is the target user. The LMS user is the learner, while the LCMS user is the learning content creator LCMSs provide tools for authoring and reusing or re-purposing content We have a need for an LCMS. This Learning Content Management System This system best fits our needs. Because Weekly we conduct new employee orientation The LCMS can quickly be updated for new employee testing. Multiple uses: Sales and service certification LCMSs provide tools for authoring and reusing or re-purposing content Has a Solution to our current and future needs. Microsoft Samsung know digital products. I felt confident in recommending MindFlash. If Apple, the largest company in the world is using them – they must have solid software Oracle, Intuit Know something about digital products. Four Seasons, knows a little about service Their client list is outstanding. Bosch manufactures automobile computers. DaVita, teaching employees to handle whole human blood. Mindf lash must be doing a good job. on was the top cellular phone manufacturer. Ashley furniture, the worlds furniture provider Which One Do You Need? Despite the nuances and complexities of different packages, a few simple generalizations can help organizations make a choice when choosing between an LMS and an LCMS. The C stands for “create.” The C in LCMS actually stands for “content,” but in reality LMS and LCMS are both concerned with content. But if you need to create it, then go with an LCMS. An LMS is focused on managing how individuals participate in e-learning programs; an LCMS is concerned with how content for e-learning is created. An organization that already employs its own trainers and coaches should consider an LCMS that will allow these individuals to convert their existing knowledge into training materials that make sense for them; organizations content to purchase “off the shelf” components should choose an LMS. Organizations that have all their existing materials in commonly used business software formats – like Microsoft Office products – will find that few LMS platforms allow for them to simply be imported and modified. Those materials need to be created from scratch, and to do that you will need an LCMS. An organization that already Employs its own trainers and coaches should consider an LCMS that will allow these individuals to convert their existing knowledge into training materials Due to the reputation , the offering all of the software and support to meet our needs. Mind Flash may have excellent support but we are open nights and week ends, we need to rely more on our staff for updates. I recommend that we contract with Mind Flash. Further, I recommend that we utilize the LCMS system. Apparently, the ease to update and change the LCMS makes this a clear favorite. Mind flash has numerous software, we could change at a later time. Max Dubowy.
