Trustees
Independence
The Consortium appointed Trustees as
part of the new governance structure.
They are:
Over the past 6 months, there has been a
great deal of change at Liverpool Mental
Health Consortium – Changes in structure,
funding, governance, & personnel.
The Consortium is now independent of any
other organisation. In April this year it was
constituted as an independent Company
Limited by Guarantee, & charitable status
with the Charity Commission was confirmed
last month.

Andy Kerr left the post of Development Manager at the Consortium in March this year to take up a
new challenge as Commissioning Officer (Mental Health) with NHS Merseyside
The Consortium no longer has an Admin post – a job that was filled very ably by Helen Fessey.
Helen is now working for Corporate Performance & Standards at Sefton Primary Care Trust
Sarah Butler remains as the Consortium’s Involvement Worker & will now be directly employed by
the Consortium
The Trustees appointed Jean Myers as Interim Transition Manager. This is a temporary contract &
Jean’s specific remit has been to support the Consortium in setting up as an independent company,
registering as a Charity, developing policies, financial systems & governance structures & in the
recruitment of a Development Manager
The Consortium is currently advertising for a Development Manager (3 days per week)
Membership
Having now been set up as an independent company, the Consortium is asking people to apply for
membership. There are 3 types of membership:
Individual:
The same as that in the constitution of the old organisation – namely, for those
with an interest in or direct experience of mental distress
Organisational: For those organisations that support the achievement of the Consortium’s
Charitable Objects. Membership will be agreed by the Committee & organisations will need to
apply each year.
Associate:
For those individuals or organisations that want to be kept informed of the
Consortium’s work, but do not want to be a formal member. Membership forms are not required,
simply email: sarah.butler@liverpoolpct.nhs.uk
Membership forms are attached with this Bulletin, so please fill one in & post it back to us.
What Hasn’t Changed?!
Service User involvement is still our highest priority & we offer valuable opportunities for those
who have experienced or are currently experiencing mental distress to:




Develop a collective voice about their experiences, needs & hopes for the future
Share opinions & insights in a friendly & informal atmosphere
Offer advice & share information
Become involved in actively influencing the planning, delivery & evaluation of services
