Name____________________________________ Period_______ Cell Function Analogy Project Analogy: Comparing two things because they both have similar functions. As we discussed in class, cells can often be compared to a school (and many other places!) The various cell organelles each have a function to perform. The parts of a school, factory, or city also perform the same kinds of functions. Directions: For this assessment you will be required to create a Google Slides, Video, or any other approved presentation of an analogy diagram which compares the organelles of a cell to the parts of a factory, city, store, boat, restaurant, circus, hospital, etc. Give your project a descriptive title that tells us what the analogy is (i.e. a city, donut factory, ship). Create a legend that matches each organelle with its corresponding part in your analogy, and also state the functions of the organelle and its matching part. Follow the format in this example: Cell/ School Legend Cell Organelle 1. Cell Membrane Function Allows materials in and out of the cell. Protects the cell. Analogy Part 1. School Fence The legend will contain the following organelles in this order. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. Cell Wall Cell Membrane Nucleus Mitochondria Vacuole Chloroplast Cytoplasm Function Allows students and teachers in and out of the school. Protects the school from strangers Name____________________________________ Period_______ Scoring Guide: Legend score is based on cell organelle and the analogy part functions. Drawing score is based on labeling the organelle and analogy part.
