Cell Analogy Project

Objective:
Your objective is to create an analogy that relates the organelles in a eukaryotic cell to
something that you have knowledge on ( i.e. factories, basketball games, restaurants,
etc.).
Definition of an Analogy: A similarity between things that are otherwise unlike. For
example the motor in a car is analogous to a power plant, since both produce power.
Writing Structure: To complete the analogy you will write 2-3 sentences for each
organelle. The first sentence should be the comparison. The next sentences should
describe the organelle and its function and also should describe the analogy and its
function.
Abbreviated Example: A eukaryotic cell can be compared to a house. The fence
outside of a house is like the cell membrane because the cell membrane determines what
can leave and enter a cell, just like the fence keeps things inside and outside of a house.
The kitchen of a house is like a ribosome in a cell. The ribosomes in a cell produce
proteins. The kitchen in a house is where foods are made.
