• Border: A line placed on one or more sides of
a paragraph(s), page, or text box.
• Diagram: A chart or graph usually used to
illustrate a concept or describe the
relationship of parts to a whole.
SmartArt Graphics
• These graphics are used often to illustrate
information, concepts, and ideas.
• Example: An organization chart illustrates the
relationships between employees in an
organization; a Venn diagram compares and
contrasts concept's
• Text Effects button: Enables you to further
enhances selected text in a document
• Page Borders and Shading: used to enhance
stationary, invitations, and other informal,
decorative documents
Diagrams and Charts
• Used to illustrate data in companies or
organizations
• Visual representations that make data easier
to understand and interpret
• SmartArt graphics are predesigned diagrams
and charts that can be inserted quickly into a
document
• Data can entered in the placeholder or task
pane

– Can be distracting and may clash with company’s
