一、教學目標(Course Objectives)
The course is designed to enrich graduate students’ professional
knowledge of academic English. With an exploration of literary
theory, monographs on Taiwan literature, and English journal
articles, among others, this course will enhance learners’ English
proficiency, as well as provide diverse approaches to training critical
thinking.

Course Description
本課程旨在提升研習者閱讀英文原典的能力,並有效掌握及分析
英文文獻,藉由研讀文學理論、台灣文學學術專書以及相關專業
期刊英文論文,透過循序漸進的方式,期使研習者能多方接觸並
熟習學術英文的表述方式,同時拓增文學及文化研究的批評視
角。

seminar 師生共讀及討論
1. Students are required to submit 2-3 thesis statements in or before
class from W2 to W7.
2. Students are required to submit one-page reading response in
class from W11 to W16.
3. Students are required to submit a term paper with annotated
bibliography & critical review. The paper is due on Jan. 17,
2013. Late submission will be considered inappropriate and may
not be counted as permissible.

(1) annotated bibliography
a. English journals and monographs only (註解書目限英文
期刊、專書及專書論文)
b. 10-15 entries for students in the master program and 15-20
entries for doctoral students
(2) critical review (文獻探討)
Students in the master program need to select at least 5
articles from the annotated bibilogrpahy to do the critical
review and, for the doctoral students, at least 10 articles. (博
班生文獻探討至少 10 篇;碩班生至少 5 篇)
