Dos Mundos is an exciting text focusing on actividades de comunicación y lecturas (communication activities featuring Total
Physical Response [TPR] and readings); Vocabulario (Vocabulary introduced in the communicative activities); gramática y ejercicios
(grammar explanations and verification exercises). There is a strong focus on culture (Ventanas culturales and Ventanas al pasado),
literature (Lecturas, Enlace literario y Notas culturales), and writing. This course, using comprehensible input, will offer an
opportunity to use the chapter themes and new vocabulary to express yourself freely in speaking and in writing, give you an insight
into Latino culture, and let you hear native speakers from various Latino countries.

NEEDED MATERIALS: Students will need a notebook only for Spanish (which can be provided if
needed); it is also strongly recommended that students obtain a good Spanish-English/English-Spanish
dictionary.
Español 2 – “B” DAY – Period 3
First Semester:
8/19/15 – 10/12/15 (Chapter Test during the week of 10/19/15)
 Capítulo 2 – Mis planes y preferencias; Metas (goals) – In Capítulo 2 you will discuss your plans for
the future and your preferences. You will also talk about your classes and the weather.
 10/26/15 – 12/11/15 (Chapter Test during the week of 12/13/15)
Capítulo 3 – Los lugares y las actividades; Metas (goals) – In Capítulo 3 you will discuss daily
activities and talk about places in the city and on your campus as well as about where you and others are
from. You will also learn useful vocabulary related to the three daily meals: breakfast, lunch, and
dinner.
Second Semester:
 1/05/16 – 2/12/16 (Chapter Test during the week of 2/14/16)
Capítulo 4 – La vida diaria y los días feriados; Metas (goals) – In Capítulo 4 you will discuss daily
activities and how you feel. You will share your family’s holiday customs with your classmates, and
you will also learn about holidays and celebrations in the Hispanic world.
 2/22/16 – 4/1/16 (Chapter Test during the week of 4/4/16)
Capítulo 5 – Las clases y el trabajo; Metas (goals) – In Capítulo 5 you will discuss classroom
activities and your classmates’ talents and abilities. You will also talk about careers, obligations,
activities in progress and recreational plans for the future.
 4/11/16 – 5/27/16 (Chapter Test during the week of 5/31/16)
Capítulo 6 – La residencia; Metas (goals) – In Capítulo 6 you will talk about where you live and what
you do there. You and your classmates will discuss what you have done recently. You will also learn
how to introduce people to each other.
Grading: An important part of your grade is participation. Opportunities for extra credit will be available
daily. Grades are weighted as follows:
