In addition to the Premarital Personal Evaluation in the case where children are involved or either fiancé has been
involved in a divorce situation I like to have both parties fill out this extra questionnaire. This gives us some things
to think about that will come up in the marriage sooner or later. If a question is not pertinent to you (ie. you were
never married before) no need to answer it.
1. What do you think went wrong in your previous relationship?
2. What was your part in it?
3. Why should this marriage be any different?
4. What will you do to protect this relationship from falling apart?
5. Who is going to control the finances?
6. Who is going to control the kids? Will you and your spouse have equal control over all
children involved? If no, why not?
7. Who is going to be the leader of the home? Will their word stand for all in the house or will
some be exempt? Why or why not?
8. What will you do to protect this relationship from the children?
I know several of these questions seem harsh but most marriages that occur when children are involved fall apart over one
of these issues. As you enter into this relationship with your future mate you are committing to put that person higher than
any other person on earth including your children and when this Biblical formula is followed a happy home is the promised
result! Everyone, including your children, needs to know that your future husband/wife comes first and by this you will be
insuring them of a happy future home together!
