about some of our procedures and
routines we will be following
throughout this school year. If you
have any questions, please don’t
hesitate to e-mail/text/call me.
Meet the Teacher

Grading
You can access your student’s
grades online with Power
School/Parent Portal. The login/sign
up is on the mustangps.org website. I
will try to update grades every week.
Every grade is weighed the same,
making them all equally important!
Home Links
Home Links are a part of MPS Every Day Math
curriculum.
Home Links will be in the back of your child’s
Self-Manager Binder.
It will be their responsibility to know what lesson
we covered that day. If they do forget we never
skip, so if we did 1.5 one day the next would be
1.6. Also we do NOT do math lessons on
Friday. The math that day consists of the math
games we played during the week followed by
15-20 minutes of indoor recess type games.
Other Homework
Spelling lists go on my website.
Pretests are given on Mondays.
Tests will be on Friday for ELA
stories and Spelling Tests
unless there is a holiday or
otherwise posted.
Practice spelling words.
Reading logs - read 15-30
minutes a night!
If you are unable to access a
computer please let me know
and I can make
accommodations.
Self-Manager
Binder
Please check every night.
Bronco Best SelfManager
•
This will be filled out at the end of every day by your student.
•
If there is a yellow highlighter mark around a box, that is a note to make
you aware that your child and I conferenced about that life skill and set a
goal to correct the behavior for the following days.
•
If there is a pink highlighter mark, that is a note to you that one of the
essentials teachers had to speak with your child.
•
This is just to let you know what we are working on daily. I ask that you
please look at this each night and sign accordingly.
•
This will help myself, your student, and I stay on top and aware of what
we are working on. Any notes or money need to go in the pencil bag to
be given to me BY YOUR CHILD, try as I might there may be a day
where I don’t get around to checking these and they need to get in the
habit of giving it to me. Notes to go home go in the back, if there is
something that your child needs to return put in the front cover.
Parent-Teacher
Communication
We will be going all digital.
I need a working email that you check daily.
I will be using email for communication for everything.
Other items will be posted on my website. It is important
that you check the site for updates or for useful information!
If there is any reason you cannot receive things online,
please let me know, and I will gladly make arrangements.

Classroom/School
Expectations
Last year we became a Great
Expectations model school. In
our classrooms, we are
working very hard to learn and
follow Great Expectations as
well as Love and Logic.
Great Expectations
-We will value one another as unique and special individuals
-We will not laugh at or make fun of a person’s mistakes, nor use
sarcasm of putdowns
-We will use good manners, saying “please,” “thank you,” and “excuse
me” and allow others to go first
-We will cheer each other to success
-We will help one another whenever possible
-We will recognize every effort and applaud it
-We will encourage each other to do our best
-We will practice virtuous living using the life principles

Discipline
The first time any mistake is made, your student will get a friendly reminder.
The second time, I will conference with your student and we will establish why the
expectation is not being met. We will then set a goal to correct it.
The third time, I will highlight in their self-manager. Your student may also have
another logical consequence. If they have highlighter in the Bronco Best this gives
you the opportunity to know what expectation they didn’t meet and talk to your
child about it. Any questions or clarifications can be emailed to me.
Oops!
If I send home an assignment with an
“Oops” paper attached that means
your child was not using their working
time wisely during class.
Please read and sign the note.
The student must complete the
unfinished assignment and bring it
back the next day.
Snack
We will be having snack at 10:00.
Each child will be responsible for bringing their
own snack. They are not required to bring them.
Each snack should be healthy, goldfish, cheezits, fruit, pretzels are some examples. Sweets
are only permitted on special occasions.

Student of the Week
Every Monday the Student of the
week can bring a poster with pictures
and a few facts about them, and it will
hang in our class for a week! I usually
pick my students on the Friday before
their week. Students of the Week get
to do all the fun jobs in the class, be a
role model, and get to sit in one of the
teacher’s chairs also!!!
Ex:
Fun Friday
At the very end of Friday afternoon for the last 15-20
minutes students are able to play indoor recess type
games.
Students must have no more than 2 highlights in their
Bronco Binder for the week.
Students must have each night (4) of Every Day Math
homework.
If neither of these are met, they will either finish their
homework while the rest of the class plays or complete an
assignment given by me.
Souvenir Story Bit
Souvenir Story Bit
This year, your child will be bringing home a Souvenir Story Bit
each week. This will be a reminder, for your child, of a book or
story that we have read in class. Please ask your child to tell you
about the book. This sharing experience will help your child’s
literacy development and will provide a warm and special time for
the two of you to talk about books. I think you and your child will be
surprised at all the story treasure he or she will have collected
throughout the school year.
Please take 5-10 minutes each night, the notebook comes home,
to have your child tell you a little about the story i.e. the setting,
characters, plot, problem, or the solution, true facts, moral or
lesson, and/or what new things she learned.
Please have your child record a few thoughts, on the page with the
souvenir, and return to school the following day.
I appreciate the valuable time you place into your students’ literacy
progress.
