The Youth Contract is a package of support worth almost
£1bn to help young unemployed people to prepare for
work and find a job.
Over three years from April 2012 the Youth Contract will
provide nearly half a million new opportunities for young
people and will enhance the Get Britain Working measures
with an increased focus on young people. The scheme aims
to build on the fantastic support many employers have
already offered.

Employability Fund
2 week sector specific training, followed by work
placements of between 2 to 10 weeks.
Delivery will be based on the assessed need of the
customer. There will be a focus on Work Placement and
progression onto open employment. All customers on
placement will be supported to work the normal company
hours in order to get as realistic an experience as possible,
with agreement as appropriate for some day release to
complete their qualifications.

Employability Fund
16 / 17 year olds - The aim of our Programme is to provide
participants closest to the labour market with relevant,
supported and appropriate work experience. The aim is to
enable participants to progress to a Modern Apprenticeship
and/or secure permanent employment. We work with
employers in the following occupational areas: Business &
Administration, Freight Logistics, Glass & Glazing, Health &
Social Care, Fashion & Textiles Heritage and Food & Drink.
12 week programme focusing on preparing young people to
access and sustain employment. 16- 25 year olds.
Programme is flexible but can include work experience and
and SQA awards including Employability, Preparing for
Work, Skills for Customer Care, Core Skills, Work
experience, personal Finance and Personal Development
 Preparing for Work - Flexible modules and 121
support to enable individuals to feel ready to seek
secure & sustain employment, Confidence

techniques to name a few.

This is a 6 week (2 half days per week) course aimed at
developing unemployed people’s IT literacy. All IT skills are
taught in the context of employability, so participants not
only learn how to prepare a cv, covering letters and how to
search for jobs online, they learn the employability skills
associated with preparing a good covering letter, how to
make their cv stand out from the crowd and how to use a
number of online resources including Universal Job Match,
Monster, S1 Jobs, Gumtree and social media.
