1951 – UNIVAC 1- first Commercial Computer-Predicts Eisenhower Wins.
1958 – Jack Kilby of Texas Instruments Invented Integrated Circuits.
1969 – ARAPNET-Predecessor or Internet.
1980 & 1981 – Bill Gates Creates DOS. & IBM PC introduced.
1991 – World Wide Web (August 6th)
2001 – 25 million users that subscribe to AOL Internet Service & Internet Explorer.

Mini Computer, Sometimes used as a Server
for a Small-Medium Sized Network. Average
Cost:$10,000 and up.
Notebooks & Laptops, Portable. Average Cost
$300-$2500.
Mainframe, Used as a Server for medium to
large sized businesses or organizations.
Average Cost $100,000 and up.
Desktop, Also called... Micro Computer or
PC. Average Cost $250-$2500. (Apple is a
PC)

Before you buy a computer there are many things you should consider:
 Laptop or Desktop; Mac or Windows; price
 What you will do on the computer (music, photos, word processing, etc.)
 Assume that you can buy any computer you would like and answer the following
questions:

Would you buy a notebook (or a smaller portable computer) or a desktop
computer? Why?
I would Probably Buy A Laptop, Because I alreadyhave a deskop. I could take it to work
or school with me if I needed to. Also very light and portable .
B.
Would you buy a Mac or a Windows/Vista Computer? Why?
I would purchase a Windows/Vista Computer because that’s wat I have at home also I
would like my laptop and desktop to match.
C.
What do you think you would use this computer for (write down at least 3-4
things)?
I would use it for Music, Videos, E-mail, Gaming, internet.
D.
Using the Internet, shop for a computer. When you find a computer you think you
would like to buy, make a screen grab and save it to your H: Drive then place it
on you Wiki.
